What is this?? Help please.

My sister lives in Hawaii and goes on hikes all the time and she came across this awesomeness anyone have any clues what it is.. Or Was.

It looks like it has an ohv so I'm guessing its less than 40 years old, on the front left of the motor there's a hole. I'm wondering it that is for a distributor or a thermostat. The bellhousing look kinda GMish to me. Its clearly a 4 cylinder so it probably wasn't in a full size truck. Unless of coarse its a diesel. The transmission looks older that 1990. Just thinking out loud. Anyone recognize this thing?

Looks like a 60's Toyota motor.... Not sure though. My guess is an import truck. It's 2wd for sure, Looks like it's got 6 lug hubs, so that eliminates a lot of possibility's. Datsun and Isuzu use 6 lug hubs..

Good call, a little googling turned up a answer. Toyota 8R-C found in a 70-71 hilux.
