Dumb seatbelt question

Figured i'd ask here since you guys seem to be the best at out of the box tinkering.

Doing a blackout interior using a full tbsti interior but seatbelts had been nabbed before i got to them. Question is, is there any way of removing the belt from this grey piece? Want to try dye my ones but i really can't see any way of removing it from the belt once its stitched up, gaps too thin for any parts other than the belt to slip through it. Really don't want to go to the effort of finding replacement belts with that piece black.

That would not be easy at all... What I would do is pull it all the way to the end of the bent then dye with the end of the seat belt... or mask off the belt and use interior paint on the plastic bit.

I think it might be tough to get paint to last in a friction area like that. Might want to consider doing some black vinyl wrap on it.

Thats an interesting idea, would it not be impossibly hard to get it to stick well to such an oddly shaped item?

Think dying may be the best option assuming the belt isn't sensitive to a product like that since some of the belt would have to be submerged with it
