How do I identify Subaru calipers and brackets?

I have this two-pot caliper that I think is from an '04 Outback but I'm not really sure. I don't see any Subaru part numbers cast into the bracket or caliper, just casting numbers. Is there a guide to ID'ing Subaru brakes, or some other surefire way to get a list of applications for a caliper I physically possess but have no other info on?

If it came off an '04 Outback, it's compatible with Legacy 02-04, Forester 03-08, and WRX 02-05. I'm not sure what other info you're looking for (part # maybe?).

Or are you suspicious these aren't stock?

Thank you very much sir!

I'm suspicious it wasn't an '04 Outback. What year was the change in brakes on Outbacks? '00 or '01?

I think it may have been a crossover production year for MY01 - I see conflicting listings with 01 and 02 on parts websites. From what I've read, most 02s are the same as 03, 04. The Outback may have switched earlier because of its additional weight.

Take my info for speculation - I've only ever done brake work on BH Legacys, not Outbacks.

There should be some casting numbers on the bracket. If you can find them and post a picture or two I can compare them with the ones I have from my mom's 04 outback that I replaced last summer.

Pad shape guide and cross reference on RockAuto should tell you the caliper application.

'01 was the cross-over year. The caliper bracket will determine the pad shape though.
