Well, I've been searching and it seems that the info for stuff that swaps into the 1st gen is hard to come by. :tongue5:
Anyway, I have the possibility of picking up a '02 Forester for a couple hundred bucks, but I was really curious if any of the stuff would swap over. It doesn't have the engine, but mostly everything else is there. I was thinking about the suspension and a few other bits. Does anyone know what would or would not swap over?

Lots n lots will. Legacy central is more setup for 1st gens and has a bunch of info!. My dad has a 91 Leggy wagon, I threw my 98 L model strusts in it (had to drill mount holes in the rear strut towers). Fronts are a direct bolt in, rear require redrill of the tower or changing the upper hats. Front breaks are pretty much direct swap if you do all the bits. I am putting a 5 speed in out of a 99 in his car ( Requires using the axles our of the later model) as some of that stuff is slightly different. After my old man drove my hybrid wagon, he wants me to turbo his car too.

The axles shouldn't need to be swapped. 90-04 all used the same stub output from the trans (except 93-94 fwd imprezas) Just use the original axles that are in the legacy.

For the rear struts get rear top hats from a 92-94 legacy (non-air suspension) or 93-01 impreza and swap onto the forester struts, this will allow them to bolt straight in. Be prepared to "massage" the area behind the struts on the rear of the car. The spring and lower perch will hit the wheel well and make it damn near impossible to get the bottom bolts lined up with the knuckle, and make for some noises going over bumps.
