Well, looks like I'll be keeping this car for at least a year, so I figured I would post up my car and the misc stuff I'll be doing to it.

First off, it's a '93 (obviously, lol), 5 speed, 223k miles, and of course has the 2.2. I bought it from a guy that was moving from Arkansas back to Montana and didn't want to take the car with him. He had it listed for $1k, but eventually sold it to me for $850, after he put in a new windshield. It wasn't perfect, but the price was too good to pass up. The things that were needing to be fixed on the car: drivers side automatic seatbelt didn't work, center console was partially broken, e-brake handle button was broken, shocks were pretty much shot, drivers side fender had a big dent/scratch in it, headlights were yellowing, grill was broken in one spot, oxidizing paint on hood and roof. The engine drove smooth, though, and shifted great. All the power windows and locks worked, and the tires had nearly new tread on them. I needed a reliable ride, so I bought it and drove it backhome, which was about 100 miles. No issues, and even the cruise control worked. :hello1:

When I brought it home:https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/06/IMG_20150616_101431_zps11hyp0os-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150616_101431_zps11hyp0os.jpg.html)

I found a couple first gen sedans in my local salvage yards. This was my $60 haul from Pick N Pull:https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150619_104045283_zpsszx1k4aa-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150619_104045283_zpsszx1k4aa.jpg.html)

I went to another salvage yard and found these gems! It was about $70 for both headlights and a grill that was in really good shape:

After bringing all this stuff home, I decided to start with the front. Man, what a difference!
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150620_180431036_HDR_zpsotvrlbjp-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150620_180431036_HDR_zpsotvrlbjp.jpg.html)

And of course while I was under the hood I did a bit a tinkering. I went back to pick n pull and found a set of NGK plug wires in really good shape, sitting on a '91. I also picked up the plastic strut covers. I don't have pictures of those at the moment, but the grand total for the wires and covers was only $4.50.
I did have a Blitz air filter laying around, so I thought why not? I do have a picture of that.

I also fixed the center console and e brake handle:

I have yet to fix the automatic seatbelt, but I'll get to it eventually.

My friend had a set of rims laying around and asked me if I'd be interested in them. So last night I went over to his house and we tried the new shoes on. Needless to say, I bought them! I dropped a whopping $132 for the rims and new lugs.

That's about it for now. I will update periodically as I do more to the green machine.

Just went out and took a couple pictures. The first one is of those strut covers. Then a picture showing the NGK wires, and finally a picture of the car with its new rims during the day.

And yeah, I need to clean that engine bay.

Thanks!

Here is what I did today: changed plugs and oil.
Unfortunately, I found these when I pulled the plugs... I'm pretty sure these should be illegal. Lol

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150704_204715627_zpsl7gndsmk-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150704_204715627_zpsl7gndsmk.jpg.html)

I also noticed that it seemed to be easiest to remove the windshield washer reservoir when changing the bank plug. Maybe I should read more first, but I've been wrenching long enough to notice these things.

Finally, replaced the old crappy plugs with something a little better...

And that about sums up what I did today.

So today it was raining and I was bored. Decided to pull the car into the garage and tinker with it a bit...

Little bit of measuring, cutting, measuring, trimming, and when it was all said and done (about 2.5 hours later...) These were fabbed and bolted in. Do I expect any gains? Not in the slightest. Like I said, I was bored. :smt044

First, this piece:

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150708_145823074_HDR_zpsiecu8qub-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150708_145823074_HDR_zpsiecu8qub.jpg.html)

Then I decided, since I already have the hood open, and I have this spare piece of corrugated plastic laying around...
A little cutting, trimming, and mocking it up...

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150708_154801930_zpssy48bhoa-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150708_154801930_zpssy48bhoa.jpg.html)

I liked the way it fit, so I traced the shape into some sheet metal I had laying around...

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150708_154823586_zpsewftmpyd-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150708_154823586_zpsewftmpyd.jpg.html)

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150708_154836018_zpsgkvfzyo6-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150708_154836018_zpsgkvfzyo6.jpg.html)

I had to trim a little bit here and there, but then I bolted it back in. Probably not the best picture, but it gives you and idea

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/07/IMG_20150708_155955307_zpsvwat0h2f-1.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20150708_155955307_zpsvwat0h2f.jpg.html)

I'm not totally done with it. I want to add some insulation to the inside. Again, not really expecting anything significant, but just a bored mind at work. Lol

I would cut some vacuum hose to put of the top so you don't have the edge sticking up. Looks good though.

I was going to get some door trim and put it on there. Yeah, don't need that cut!

Did some junking this morning, and came across a set of window trim that was in really good shape. Was only able to get the driver's side, as there was a hornet nest in the passenger side. Lol. Anyway, here is a couple shots where you can see what the old trim looks like, and the newish trim that I bought.

And this is the one I picked up from the JY:

Should hopefully have it on in the next few days.

And here is the final product... Good thing is that there wasn't a whole lot of rust.

Well, it's been a few months and haven't really had a chance to do much with the car. So crazy busy... Anyway. I decided to reduce the cutting hazard of the heat shield. Just some simple automotive door trim from Autozone... And bam! Looks better IMO. Lol

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/10/IMG_20151030_131411060_zpsy7apnnx3-2.jpg (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/417talon/media/Legacy/IMG_20151030_131411060_zpsy7apnnx3.jpg.html)

Now I'm debating on whether I want to drop about $1500 into this and make it a little bit better, and closer to what I would like...
