Hi all :)

I'm new here, pointed your way by a couple of existing members whose usernames I don't actually know. From the lurking i've been doing over the last couple of days this forum looks amazing and full of all kinds of cool people and useful information.

I come from the land down under, and I'm a nerd by trade (IT management) but a pretty big car nut at the same time. My current daily driver is a Fiesta ST, but we're not here to talk about that, are we?

We're here to talk about this:

Behold my new-to-me 2002 AUDM Liberty/Legacy B4 sedan. She's currently got an EJ208 rev D in her, which is a little... well, dead.

warning: this video is not for the faint of heart or those with extreme mechanical sympathy

The previous owner bought her with a rod knock from the owner before him driving her with almost zero oil, drove her without fixing it for 3 months, and then left her on his back lawn for six months.
I picked her up for $2800 - with 150,002km on the clock, an almost-full service history, new-ish tyres, and an absolutely perfect interior. She even has the keypad immobilizer AND IT STILL WORKS PROPERLY!

Against all odds, I've found a freshly-imported-from-japan EJ208D with a similar amount of kms (130k, and the timing belt already done, which makes life easier) fifteen minutes drive away from where she's currently located for a very reasonable price, which I will be picking up on Tuesday.

What follows will be the chronicle of a shadetree like-for-like engine swap. Things might get a little interesting.

Anyway, I'll be sure to make a ride thread for that as soon as progress begins.

So yes! Hello everyone :) it's very nice to meet you all.

That build sounds like it will be great. Don't be afraid to post pics along the way.
