View Full Version : Keyless Entry 01 Legacy L
I want to add factory keyless entry to my 2001 L. I've seen a few threads about older models and some spotty information about my car.
I have the glovebox out of my car, and I have a couple different keyless modules. But I don't see anywhere to plug it in. I found the door lock timer though.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I might be able to help if I remember to look this up when I get home. No promises though (on remembering or being able to help)

Okay, I found the info. A few of the wires that go to your door lock timer will go to the keyless control module instead.
(the cars with door lock timer don't have the keyless control module and vice versa)
The following wires change (from door lock timer to keyless entry module):
pin 7 (GR) to pin 15
pin 1 (W) to pin 5
pin 3 (LgY) to pin 2
pin 4 (WR) to pin 3
pin 2 (RG) to pin 1 AND pin 9 (this should give you single-click unlock for all doors)
Here's a breakdown of what the pins are on the keyless entry module:
Pin 1 - Door and rear gate lock actuator (Except driver side) (OUTPUT)
Pin 2 - Door and rear gate lock actuator (OUTPUT)
Pin 3 - Power supply (Back-up)
Pin 4 - Room light (OUTPUT)
Pin 5 - Door lock switch (INPUT)
Pin 6 - Trunk room light switch (Sedan), rear gate latch switch (Wagon) (INPUT)
Pin 7 - Door switch (INPUT)
Pin 8 - Ground
Pin 9 - Door lock actuator (Driver side) (OUTPUT)
Pin 10 - Security control module
Pin 11 - Security control module
Pin 12 - Horn relay (OUTPUT)
Pin 13 - Security control module
Pin 14 - Ignition switch (ON) (INPUT)
Pin 15 - Door unlock switch (INPUT)
Pin 16 - Key warning switch (INPUT)
First, thank you for following up. I appreciate the help.
Noob question...
That takes care of the locks and power to the keyless, but what do I do with the other 10 pins? I'm assuming I need to at least ground pin #8.

Yeah, the pin 8 in your door lock timer goes to pin 8 in the keyless entry module for ground.
I didn't really try to figure out the rest of it, since it dealt with the lights and security module (which I don't think exists on the other cars). I only looked at what made the doors lock/unlock. I'll try to remember to check again tonight. I should've just put up a pinout of the door lock timer. That way you could've figured out which wire goes where on your own. I wasn't thinking.

Any chance of getting the full pinout?

Whoops. Totally forgot about this..... my apologies. I'll try to get to this soon. I am also trying to prepare for my trip this weekend though....

Here's the door lock timer pinout:
Pin 1 - Door lock switch
Pin 2 - Door and rear gate lock actuator
Pin 3 - Door and rear gate unlock actuator
Pin 4 - Power supply (Battery)
Pin 5 - (don't think this is used)
Pin 6 - (don't think this is used)
Pin 7 - Door unlock switch
Pin 8 - Ground
Obviously there are a lot more lines for the keyless entry module than the door lock timer, but I don't know that you have the wiring for all of it. There seems to be a bunch of security stuff missing on the non-keyless entry capable vehicles.
Thanks! Hopefully I can get to this over the weekend.
