I am looking to get unequal length headers for my 2001 legacy L and was wondering where I should get them? I hear people reference Ebay, but I did not see any there. Does anyone have a recommended brand or just a website to get them off of?

Hinyo or Rubie_25GT should be able to help you on that one.

I bought a SpeedyRacer header off of eBay and used it for about a year with no cracking. Good welds and nice thick tubes for right around $100. The gaskets it comes with are crap though. I sold it when I did my turbo swap.

+1 for ebay. Make sure it has good welds along the flange inside and outside. DO NOT WRAP YOUR HEADERS!!!! Paint with high temp paint but thats it!!!!

Anything that can fit 97-05 Imprezas can also fit you. Here's a cheap one:

I'm pretty sure the most popular uel's are the DNA Motoring (Speed Daddy) brand on ebay. Legacy, Impreza, it doesn't matter because it's all the same part number. The fitment on my 01' Legacy was a little off and required me to bend the inner bottom pipe down a bit more because it had been slightly rubbing my power steering lines and sway bar. Still the best choice besides Borla.

They're all knockoffs of the Borla headers, probably all made in the same factory. If fitment is off, it's because of shoddy build quality, not because they aren't designed for your car (provided you don't have the newer header setup with the cats underneath the engine, which is 05+ Legacy, 06+ Forester & Impreza, IIRC).

I was actually thinking they were too close to my power steering lines/swaybar because they might have only test fitted them on one model (I keep thinking Impreza). Although an Impreza, Legacy, Forester, etc share the same bolt patterns, it's possible the clearance differences down low varies for each model. Just my theory.

+1 for the DNA motoring headers off eBay. Think i paid like 120 after shipping and they look like decent quality and sound great. The fitment was for a 2.5rs but they all fit the same. I did have to cut and re weld the bottom tube to give some power steering lines a little more clearance. probably would have fit but it was too close for my liking.

The fitment is the same (same crossmembers) across the range in that generation of subaru - the fitment is variable because ebay headers.

I got mine off of fleabay for $40 this last summer. I caught a random coupon code and it was single handedly my favorite purchase for my GT. I was able to look up ej25 n/a headers and voila! They rattled after about a week and I just re-tightened them while I was doing my oil change and not a hiccup since. I also remember chopping my exhaust in the back the day I got the headers on. Sounds lovely every start-up.

I got an EL single port header made for my 98 from www.infernofab.com . more pricey but its stainless!

Those look like quality pieces and there's quite a few options, too. Nice link.
The problem with the cheap eBay ones is fitment and weld quality - I had a set of UELs on my Legacy quite some time ago and they required some wrestling to get in and I had to have repairs done shortly after install because of some bad welds.
