Okay so I'm in the middle of rebuilding my '99 EJ25D Dohc engine, when I was tearing it down one of the cam cap bolts had been stripped so I welded a nut to it and got it out. After welding the bolt I than needed to get a new one after going to the dealership and finding out I had to buy the set for both heads ($280) I said screw it and went to picknpull. I found a '96 Ej25D Dohc and pulled the cam cap bolts out. After getting back to the shop the next day, I found out they are different, the ones I pulled are skinnier. From what I've read all 2.5 dohc are supposed to have the same bolt.
I was wondering if anyone has an idea on what's going on and what cars I'd be able to get cam cap bolts from? Also I was wondering if it would be safe to use the cam cap bolts I have to drive temp until I find the proper one? Otherwise I'll grind the nut off and use the bad one until I get one in the next few days. I'm running out of free shop time so I can't leave the car unassembled:(
