Hello everyone, wanted to introduce myself and the story of my Subaru. My name is Jason and I own a 2000 Legacy L wagon purchased just a little over a year ago (2/5/2015) and with 96,610 miles on the odometer. The vehicle was purchased from my uncle who is a mechanic and is in the used car business. Since he didn't own it for very long, I am technically the third owner of the car.

Originally, I was looking for a Volvo 850 wagon since I have always had a soft spot for Volvo wagons. After asking my uncle if he was willing to do a pre-purchase inspection on one, he suggested I get a Subaru instead and showed me pictures of the one he coincidentally had at the time. Without ever test driving the car (or a Subaru for that matter), I bought it based on a few potato quality pictures. Thus you can say it was a Top Gear Challenge car.

Since he lives in Northern California and I live in Texas, car is a 5 speed (I knew how to drive stick but never had enough practice to be good at it), my first challenge was be comfortable with stick while driving back. My second challenge was I had to be at my Grandpa's birthday in LA in 24 hours, thus driving to and around LA with my first stick. Third challenge was to test the cargo capacity of the car. I was moving the remainder of my stuff from home in LA to Texas. Next up was driving home back to Texas, with some dicey weather; this was during the week when the I-10 through western Texas was covered in ice. Long story short, I got well acquainted with the Subaru after that.

I also did a second road trip at the end of the year from Texas to Florida with a stop in Key West.

In short, I have owned the car for a year and 3 days, put nearly 16,800 miles on her (I average 6,000 miles a year), and drove through 11 states, been on 95% of the Interstate 10, and gone from coast to coast. Along with the amount of passion Subaru owners tend to be about their cars, I think she's a keeper!
