That time of year is coming back up on us soon, and after some brief discussions with some of the other members from last year, I wanted to start an Official planning thread here.
The location is changing, we are hashing out the new location right now. This *WILL NOT* be at Whole Foods this year
It will be at Giant Supermarket, 6480 Freetown Rd, Columbia, MD 21044
In the parking lot adjacent to Cedar Ln. (39.195528, -76.884885 in Google maps)
Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00am. Rain or Shine!

I most likely can't do Memorial Day weekend.
Consider me a definite, 100% solid "Maybe." I really want to, and will try my damnedest to scrape the cash together.

Is nobody going to comment on the "4rd Annual Meet"? Y'know, 1rd, 2rd, 3rd, 4rd....
Anyway, I think Memorial Day is a good choice because that's a long weekend and allows people further away to make it without totally disrupting their lives. Although this doesn't work if people have already scheduled something else over three months in advance. I also think since the seasons have been running later (fall started in November and winter didn't start until January!) we don't want to get caught in the cold like the first two meets. Maybe we should have an attributable poll? That way we can see what dates the likely attendees want to do.

... I copy and pasted from last year. oops. Its.. "foured"... "Ford"... you know.. we are leaving our Subarus at home this year, and all bringing Focus RS's
Alright, I added a poll. Vote for all of the dates that work for you, and we will work around the consensus.

So I voted for the second to last, but I'm also down for the last one in May. I didnt make it last year due to my sister getting stage 4 cancer. I'm planing to make it this year, one way or another... I really do miss you guys! :)
I'm also considering, if gas prices hold out, and if I trust White Lightning enough, to drive my sedan from Seattle to Yamazaki in MD. It's a stupid long drive, but I've been wanting to do it for a while. More then likely I'll fly, like I always do, but if I can figure out a way, I'll drive. Just need to make sure the 300K EJ25D is up to it. ;)

To be fair, it's only 3 more votes than the next highest. If it were like 10 more, then It'd feel like more of a blowout.

I like it because its the latest day without being a holiday weekend. The only other day I could do was like April 16th. I am part of a group who does panels and workshops at anime-themed conventions so my weekends will be limited this year.
And Yamazaki, bring the Cappuccino to this event if you can. I would really like a pic of it beside my Outback.

I already planned to bring the Cappuccino and the S401 for this year, as long as it's not on May 7th (I will be in NYC at that time).

That is true, but it is still double the next closest date.

And with that, May 7th is deleted from the poll. I was thinking about adding more dates to the poll, but vbulletin does not allow people to re-vote for some reason..

The date has been set as May 21st. It was very clearly the winner of that poll.

Comment! I have some Subaru Diecast Cars (Legacys and Outbacks) that I will be handing out at this event. I believe I have 7 of each. They will be a first come, first serve basis. If this list grows beyond 14 before May 1st, I will order more.

So, Whole Foods has another event happening that day, and we will not be able to have the meet there after all. They just now told us about this, and it sucks about the late notice, but we are looking for alternate locations now.
Right now, the time and date are not changing, just the venue.

I have lots of BFMs, two sets of wheels, some brake parts, and some switches and whatnot that I do not have listed currently... but will be later today for sure.

Yeah, I asked about using the Whole Foods lot a month ago, and it took them a while to respond (I had to keep asking for a response too). It's a different person than I dealt with last year. I am working on permission for the new venue, but I forsee no issues. Unlike Whole Foods, we could probably do it there anyway, but I want to make sure every thing is on the up-and-up.

Even weirder. I didn't make the call until several minutes ago.
So officially we still don't have "permission". Giant does not own that parking lot, but the manager I spoke with has no problem with it. I have been trying to contact the representative that does control the lot, but he is not returning my calls. I say we hold it there anyway. It's always empty in the back and the weather forecast will prevent the lot from getting crowded.

This may prevent me from showing up. Boxerfest was bad enough with it raining all day. And its about an 80% chance of rain from about 3am till 6pm. I did ask Hinyo about parking garages in the area.

It's real. It's a small office space within a larger building with a bunch of other offices. It's also not easy to find, especially if you plug the address into Google maps. You'll go to the wrong place.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. The thing is- there are bathrooms and food at Whole Foods and Giant. There is nothing near the Subaru offices.
There is a parking garage near the mall, but since it's at the same time as "Wine in the Woods", there will almost certainly not be enough open parking for us to meet up in the area.
I will not return to Boxerfest for two big reasons - (1) price of admission not worth what you get, and (2) long lines for expensive food for what you get. I think there were porta-johns, but I don't remember. For me, any meet has to be worth the price of admission and have facilities that are worth keeping me there. But I realize that's just me and everybody has different opinions.

Chance of rain has gone down slightly.
Boxerfest was much better this year despite the rain. Lots more food trucks and vendor displays. And watching people try to auto-cross high power cars on r-compounds in the rain was hilarious.
