Speed-sensor wire location?

I've just about finished installing a DVD/Nav system in my outback (Kenwood DDX7015/KNA-DV4100) and I need to connect the nav system to the speed-sensor. I know that it runs from behind the instrument cluster (the Haynes says it's the black and white wire pair) but I can't find a good spot to tap into it.

Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid taking off the dash, if at all possible.

you can try down by the ECU

Thanks, I poked around down there but I couldn't get it to work. After a little more research (the12volt.com) I decided to use the cruise control unit.

I haven't actually done it yet, but first thing in the morning I'll give it a shot and snap a picture if it works.

It works!
All I had to do was turn the diode the correct way...doh.
