Tapatalk has been the go-to app for mobile forum browsing for a bit now, however they have made some very significant changes to their app that severely limits its usefulness.

First, there is no way to simply browse the forum anymore. Everything is "trending threads" or the "timeline" of recent posts. If it hasn't been posted in the last week or two, it is just no longer easily visible via the app.

Second, they started a "SL-i Chat" that is exclusive to the tapatalk app. We have zero control over what happens on it, nor who can chat on it. You do not even need to be a registered user of this forum to use it, as long as you "follow" SLi on Tapatalk.

And lastly.. They have littered the app with ads. Every third or fourth post is an ad for something now. The revenue generated from these ads goes to Tapatalk and not to us.

After talking it over with Reason, we disabled tapatalk from this forum, and will look into alternative applications.. in the meantime, the forum itself looks pretty good from mobile browsers, so we encourage mobile users to use that for now.

If there are any questions, please feel free to ask them here, or PM me.

It's sad since so many have used it for so long, but without being able to know who is talking and having adds for things that dont benefit us here at the forum, this is the best action.

I agree. I used to really like Tapatalk. It is very unfortunate that they decided to try to make it more facebook-ish without giving us an option for the old method.

I was a bit upset about tapatalk being removed but I 100% understand, The whole chat thing was very strange.

Well, I am looking into alternatives. vBulletin has their own mobile application, but it costs us money to implement it. ForumRunner is another great app, but it requires people to buy the "pro" version to make posts.. the free version can only browse.

Interesting. I splurged the couple of bucks and bought Tapatalk Pro and it has none of the issues you layout here. I can browse, don't see any ads, don't see chat either. Maybe that's all coming in an update though.

Or it could just be because you bought a paid version - it would be really shitty of them to ad advertising to your paid version, too. Likely many users won't (buy the Pro) and Tapatalk is taking full advantage of spamming forums without their consent and making money off of them without any kind of payout. Pretty crappy.

For Android users who want a good experience, I'd recommend RSBrowser - it's basically Chrome light - runs on a lot fewer resources and the formatting on SLi (as well as other webpages) looks great and is very navigable.
