So who has replaced their engine mounts with the STI ones?

Anybody have stories about installs?

I guess there arnt too many us that have them on here.

I got mine online, they said they would fit.

They dont fit. Not on a 1997 GT 5-speed atleast. But you can get them to fit. The STI mounts are wider than the regular mounts and actually sit on top of these guide steps on the cross member. These are little bumps-notches that are there to locate the mounts.
If you want the STI mounts to fit you either need to grind down these bumps or cut notches into the bottom of the STI mount to clear the bump. The bumps are only an eighth of an inch tall so there isnt that much to remove.

Just something I learned this Saturday.

I've got them in my Legacy. Install was easy as pie!

They fit fine on my 97 5-speed.

I initially thought they wouldn't fit with the 'bumps' on the BD crossmember but they will bolt down and you actually end up with the mounts pre-tensioned against each other with the mounts sitting just inside the bumps like the stockers.

I also have the STi pitch stop and trans mounts, along with the superpro gearbox subframe bushings and I'm happy with them.

I have STi mounts, but then again I also have a WRX crossmember, so I can't speak for whether or not they'll fit. The interesting part of my install story is that once I got the engine lifted off the crossmember, it wouldn't line up to go back down into it again because the intercooler was shoved up against the firewall at a bad angle. A couple friends had to come over and do a lot of pushing and shoving.

I do not think they give enough to sit inside of the bumps, there is enough bolt to pull them down on an angle so they are kind of twisted.

There was a great tendancy for one mount to fall into place and the other be offset, that isn't good.

I think giving a little more room makes a much more favorable situation for the mounts, having them sit the way they have been designed too.
