Spark Plug Gap

I've search and didn't find anything on the gap of the spark plug. I've just bought a set of NGK platnium spark plugs and they're gap at 39. So evidently it was already pre-gap. But i want to know what the normal gap for my BD :eek: ..and i also ran stock wires :lol:

.044 I believe. That's what I gapped my Forester plugs to per the factory service manual.

You can, but why would you want to?

Does the car misfire? If so, tighten it up a little. Otherwise, leave them. You won't see power gains by closing them up.

Since the car is N/A I would just leave them at .033" and call it a day.

You should definately torque the spark plugs down to spec (21 ft. lbs.). I was curious, so I torqued them down, and the car ran better than before. Odd, but it worked for me.

i got the NGK irridium plugs for my 2.2. They were pretty up front with me: DO NOT ADJUST GAP was on the box, the packing slip, and the website. I like simple.

But ALWAYS check gap before installing.

We've had OEM iridium plugs come gapped slightly off.

By the same feeler gauge you use to measure the gap. lightly pry up to increase, tap a little to bring it down. The tip is pretty maleable.
