This will be my first thread on sli and I'm hoping the community has some advice because I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to engine parts. I am looking to turbo my 2000 Legacy GT Limited and I found a stock turbo from a Legacy B4 (EJ208, 1998-2004) but I have no clue if it will even work, the B4 is roughly the same as my GT other than numourous engine mods so I have room for a little hope. Though if it does fit, what other parts what I need minimum for it to function well; I.e. wastegate, catback, intercooler or any small parts. I'm currently on a loose budget but have big plans for this car down the road, any serious answers are appricated.

The EJ208 setup is completely different then anything in the US market. It's a twin turbo with a lot of complex workings. It's also intended for a RHD car, so the TT system would need to be modified in order to accommodate the twin.

Your best option is to do what most do and thats use a WRX, STi, of Legacy GT (turbo), XT Forester, or Outback XT donor car. The best one would be a Baja turbo since it is the same basic car as your 2000 GT, but they are not cheap comparing to Impreza's of Foresters.

You can also do a budget hybrid build as well. Many members have done that. You can take a look in the MRI threads and see what they have done. You can boost the stock EJ251, but they dont like a lot of it or often. The forums are full of a mass of info. Take a look in the forced induction threads also as there is a ton of info there too.

Alright that's good to know, I've been looking around and found a scrapped 06 WRX 2.5 4l, a few turbos for an 05-06 forester baja, and plenty of newer lgt turbos but it cant just be that easy. I've asked around just about everywhere I can personally and keep getting mixed answers, though they all sound legitimate. My car is mostly stock on the outside so a fun little LGT sleeper (I use the term loosley) would kick ass. If I have to I can take a different approach and go for a better radiatior, oil cooler, intake, fuel pump or even exhaust and hope for a decent or better amount of preformance gain from it. Thanks for the replys, I've poked around that thread on boosting the EJ25D but unfortunately I dont understand most of what they're talking about. Time will tell I suppose
