Under his inspiration, I modded my HVAC lights the other day. Made them red.

Then I played with my Alpine headunit until I matched the red correctly. It actually looks kind of cool. I need to turn the OE Compass DIN unit red, and then the cluster. I need to fiddle with the alpine a bit more to get the color a bit closer.

I also did his map/dome light mod. That is a mod EVERYONE should do! The difference is incredible.

I did the mod with paint. I used Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red spray paint. A quick light coat and let it dry. Popped the bulbs in and that was that!

I like the red. It's not to bright, it's easy to see at night, and I hardly even notice that it's on. I can glance and see where the buttons are for quick pushings, and it isn't distracting.

That pic doesn't make it look as red as it really is. It looks good, trust me.

Cellphone night camera. Sorry about quality.

Did the compass unit this morning. Looks pretty cool.

Nice to see my work being done.

But I'm going to have to admit that I'm trying blue out now

I thought of going blue, but it's not easy.

I might try blue again at some point in the future, but for now, the red works pretty well. It's not distracting, and it looks kinda cool!

I found some blue clear wrap stuff that works.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Re-film the gauges instead of working around the green or filing it off.

A co-worker turned his wifes gauges blue using LED's. It worked pretty well, but it's SO bright, that it's distracting. She likes it though.

I would still sand the back of the guages off, otherwise you'll get a greenish-blue or (worse) greenish-red. However, it's much more conducive to uniform, solid color
