hids not working properly

I installed some projectors along with some hid's in my second gen legacy and they've never seemed to work properly. Wondering if anyone else has had an issue with their hid/projector setup. I bought some ddm tuning hid's and they worked for a couple weeks with no problems, then they started flickering from time to time, after about another week the pass side one would just shut off after a small amount of driving. It was winter at the time so I never got around to looking into this and just now I went in to have a look and see if i could see anything wrong. Well I noticed the seal in the plug from the ballast to the light bulb hadn't been sealing properly and was full of corrosion. To the point where one of the pins actually broke off making the ballast unusable. I had a set off ballasts from my other car that i took out awhile ago so I thought I'd just swap those in and see what would happen. Now they both come on but flicker and same thing pass headlight just turns off after a bit of driving and sometimes they will both turn off but if i flash the high beams theyll both turn back on, pass side will turn off again shortly after. I'm thinking of just re soldering all my connections and making sure they are nice and clean. Does anyone have a diagram for wiring the projectors in? I just followed some tutorial on youtube so I'm thinking maybe I wired them up wrong aswell. Thanks for any help.

Disable DRL if you have them...I don't think 2nd gens do.

Then, hook your ground straight to chassis and connect your HID's to the + end of the low beam. Subaru uses ground as the switch so sometimes the ground signal isn't "clean" enough to trigger the power up sequence of the ballast.

Yeah I always did the relay harness wiring kit when switching to hids on any car. Pretty sure yours are lifetime warranty as well so I would contact ddm.

What he said. I had a ddm tuning harness/2nd Gen projectors and had similar effects occasionally. Eventually my headlights got cloudy and combined with the rhd beam pattern and interminent issues and failing hid's iswapped back the stock headlights.

Also, I have a theory my 20 year old car had a hard time powering the ballasts

most of the issues I have dealt with concering hid ballasts come from poor/weak grounding or poor/weak connections in the added wiring. I too agree with using the relay harness for installs it can eliminate most of these issues unless you live in the rust belt like I do. Here everything takes a hit

test them straight to voltage

Have you tried replacing the ballast?

when i had HIDs i installed a capacitor, this took care of any flickering.
