Hi all! Here's the story of the restoration of my second Legacy, "Gertrude"
1639
This took about 11 months. Bought the car with 234k for $1,000. Supposably owned from new to 208k by a Subaru tech at a local dealer.

Mod list:

-Exterior:
JDM headlights
JDM fog lights
JDM side marker lights wired to be on with running lights
USDM GT front bumper
2 sets of 6" Outback fog lights with HID bulbs
LED headlight (low beam) bulbs
Replaced 3 doors, both fenders
bondo'd rear quarters and rockers (hand crafted!)
Fender flares
Rally Armor mud flaps
Reese roof rack
Gorilla Offroad license plate CB antenna mount
LED brake lights
Forester 15" steelies, sandblasted and painted black
Yokohama Geolandar AT-S with hand-painted white letters
Rattle can primer, base, and clear. Dupli-color Chrysler Charcoal Gray metallic

-Interior:
Outback limited leather seats and door cards
Outback limited leather wrapped steering wheel
Variably intermittent wiper switch
WRX drivers seat
Purple interior trim
Purple stitched black suede shift boot
Purple footwell lighting (I got for free, don't judge too harsh :P )
Subaru all-weather floor mats from a 3rd gen outback
Pioneer head unit, boss amp and sub

-Suspension:
03 Forester struts
Gorilla Offroad 1" spacers (total about 2" above stock outback height)
Rear sway bar delete

-Engine and "performance"
JDM long block (higher compression, rated 175 horsepower)
UEL headers
Custom welded exhaust
Thrush racing muffler with bosozoku style tip
Kartboy short throw shifter
Kartboy poly shifter bushings
Sloppy shifter u-joint fix

-Major maintinence
Hand made rear brake lines (rust victim)
Engine replaced, original lost compression at 237k
Rebuilt said engine, including head gaskets and head tear down
Clutch replaced
Replaced pretty much every detachable body panel due to rust (underneath still solid)

-To do:
I have an 02 Forester 5 speed sitting in the garage, my synchros are shot
Exedey stage 1 clutch kit and 12 lb flywheel will go in with that, I love the feel
Roof mounted light bar
Maybe an Impreza/OBS front bumper. I'll miss my JDM fogs though

So far, I've done everything myself. I'm a Chrysler tech, so subarus make a great hobby for me!
I bought a parts car later for the engine, a 99 Outback Limited 30th anniversary, and just happened to find a genuine JDM EJ25D in a car sitting in a field for 2 years. So that bumps me up to 3 Legacies. It's been quite the journey!

I am so in love with your car right now.

bondo'd rear quarters and rockers (hand crafted!)
-This. Just did this myself. not as easy as I thought it would be... and I didn't think it would be a cakewalk.
