Hello everyone. Im kinda new here to the forums, but some of you might know me on the Facebook SL-i group. I decided to start getting a little more involved in the forums. I'll Start by introducing myself. My name is Eliy Hill (also my Facebook name for those who recognize it) I've had my Driver's License for a little over a year now, and I've had my 1998 Subaru Legacy GT 2.5L for a few months longer. I assume if you've read this far, that you're interested, so i'll go ahead and go into the story of how I ended up with my 98 Legacy, a car that is around the same age that I am. Every teenager looks forward to that day, right? I had saved all the money my parents had given me for keeping my grades up. I saved up over $800 by the time i was a Sophomore in High school. Now, my family doesn't have a whole lot of money to spare, so my dad gave me a strict budget. $1500, no more. Not much you can do with only $1500 and expect to get a decent ride that doesn't make you look like a ricer or a grandma. Unfortunately these were the things I was worried with at the time... At first I wanted a truck. Nothing big and ridiculous. I was willing to settle for an S/10. Dad said no, cause of insurance... so I remembered that I desperately wanted an 07 WRX (Because of Colin McRae's "DiRT"). I searched every where.. and nothing within my budget. One day, my dad walks up to me and says that he found it. I looked at the pictures and read the description. Seemed pretty legit to me... Nope.. Phishing scam... crap... well.. for the moment.. my dreams of getting a Subaru were dashed and getting dimmer and dimmer..... a few days later my dad pulls me out of my room and shows me pictures of, what is now my 98 LGT. To be honest, at first i didn't like it.. I really wanted that WRX. Paint on the back bumper was peeling, but other than that cosmetically, it was pristine for a car that was almost 17 years old. The option was still on the table and my other options weren't all that great.. It was either the LGT or a Saturn... That night i sat and thought about it and thought "Well.. i guess beggars can't be choosers.." I told my dad i wanted the LGT. later that day we go to check it out, and in person, the more i was around it, the more i was impressed by it. i eventually fell in love with the car. I decided that this was the car that i was looking for. I paid $800 and my dad paid the other $700. day after we go to get it tagged and luckily on the way home from the event rather than going to it, the engine goes out about a 1/4 from home... we managed to make it back. My dad immediately finds a replacement JDM EJ25D engine from Japan. We did the swap and haven't had issues since. I love my car and I'm glad i have it over a WRX. Trans is about to go out, so i might be asking questions about 6MT swaps here soon. sorry for the long story lol

Welcome! Cool car. Guessing it's 5 speed?

Did you paint the calipers/spoiler. Also it looks like it has aftermarket wheels. You should make a members rides thread for it!

Welcome to the forum! Where are you located?
And like foohfooh said - make a member's ride thread!
It's helpful to keep track of everything you do and also gives other people ideas and inspiration when they do things with their cars.
