Has anyone ever swapped a third gen dash into their second gen? I know it can be done, just how easily? Supposably it bolts right in no problem. Assuming you also swap over the HVAC box, how complicated is the wiring, or is it plug and play? Id like to keep my original cluster (just for the high mileage odometer :smt045 ) so I'd imagine that'll get complicated. I'd go check in junkyards first but they're currently buried in snow.

Are you considering taking on this project? Has this been done by anyone before? I'd like to see some pics of a 3rd gen dash in a 2nd gen. The 2nd gen's interior looks so dated compared to the 3rd gen. If it has been done before, I'm curious to know what needed to be cut and modified for it to fit correctly and if there were any weird gaps leftover. Would the 3rd gen door panels need to be used also?

I know it's been done, saw this posted on a Facebook group from some guy in Singapore. I asked, he said the chassis underneath is the same so it bolts up. 2151

As for me... I did this a few days ago.2152
It looks like the chassis is the same, but I took literally everything just to be safe. The HVAC box is different (different vents). I'm going to try to keep the original cluster. Was going to do it this weekend, but waiting on a heater core since its best to do it now.

Yeah should be pretty much same, wiring of course will be the only difference am aware of.

did you ever complete this dash swap?

I did! Not perfect but it's possible. Door panels need to be cut, and there's a lot of manhandling involved. Kept the original dash harness, spliced into new contols and radio head, swapped everything else but the steering column, though I should have swapped that too.2301

Should have swapped in an H6 3.0 while you were at it ;)

All in due time my friend ;)
Would be a great upgrade, looking for better low end. I'm on 5" of lift with 30" KO2s, that poor little 2.5L/5 speed

Did you swap passenger airbags as well? Did you have to trim the center console to bottom of dash at all?

I did swap the passenger airbag, but the harness and connectors are different and don't plug into the airbag module, which I didn't grab from the donor car. I swapped the console over from the 04 too, direct bolt-up.
