Hi!
I am wondering if I can mount a newer reverse checking mechanism, that also has a 1 and 2 return spring as well as 5 and R spring, to old transmission that uses outside spring to return from 1 and 2 to neutral.
Newer model:

Old model:
http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/en_b11/type_25/manual_transmission/mt_shifter_fork_and_shifter_rail/illustration_1/
On this illustration you can see two spring on newer model and one spring on old model.
Has anybody already tried this?
I really hate outside spring, because it gets rusty and falls off after two winters, so I am searching for long term fix.
