Well, here it is, I've finally gotten into the tallboi game. The day that my BK decided to crap the bed, I got a text from a friend:
"Putting the sub on the market, if you are interested let me know"
He had picked up an '06 Outback XT, in preparation for a move to Colorado, and knew I liked his BG. Took my broke ass a few weeks to get the money together, but last week, I bought it, and today, I got it registered.
Specs:
1999 Subaru Outback with Cold Weather Package.
EJ25d
4eat

Mods:
-Hipposleek replica grille
-16" snowflake wheels.
-215/70/r16 tires
-2x Hella 500Y driving lights
-2.5rs hood vents
Thule roof rack

Future mods:
-UEL header
-Custom Hyundai Genesis-based CNT Racing catback

I swapped on the intake pipe from my 1995 last night. Sounds a bit more aggressive. Can't wait to do the exhaust though. I miss my rumble.

Get rid of the "towel bar"

Gotta get rid of the whole tailgate, eventually. It's all pushed in.

Went to Mexico and did a little GPS testing, and it runs a 17.5 second 1/4 mile at 77mph...

Good thing I don't want to make it a race car, I guess...

Well, I've got some work done. Cut some 2.5rs vents into the Outback/GT hood. Rally Armors are on, snowflakes are on, with the Legacy sized Tiger Paws from my BK. Added a Thule roof rack that I got on the side of the road, free. Gotta love it.

Continuing my tradition, I couldn't get the black paint I laid down after cutting the vents in to look remotely good, so I threw in the towel and let my friend go to town with his spray paint.

Is it a five speed?
Nope, auto.

Added a STi Genome strut brace. I'm preparing for a trip down to the Tail Of The Dragon, in May. Ideally, I'll have a set of Scion tC wheels and better tires on it by then, along with the exhaust from my '95.

First, I wish you had let me know you were in Colorado so we could hang. Second, not cool nibbling on people's door cards.

Neat to see someone working on a 2nd-gen wagon after all this time. They're really starting to become proper classics now.

Unfortunately, I won't be doing anything more with this car. I need something that actually works, and I am still an absurdly broke boi. It, and the 2000 are getting sold to someone who is gonna fix and flip 'em. However, there is something decidedly exciting entering my life very soon, thanks to the combination of COVID relief and tax return money.
