Seems the forum is dead...this saddens me. How do we resurrect it! I want an SL-i rebirth!

Unfortunately, Facebook has effectively killed or at least severely impacted all of the independent forums out there :(

Maybe it's time to roll up our sleeves again (or in my case, again again). Life's been different these days... all the more reason to spend some more time in the community.

I'm guilty - I just logged in for the first time in who knows how long. The problem with Facebook is that people keep asking the same questions over and over again - the knowledge stored in the pages of this forum need to be saved.

Glad to see this place still stands. Hard to believe it's been over 10 years since I got started posting and chatting with people here.

i bought another legacy. this is like my 10th subaru. if the number of 1st, 2nd,3rd and 4th gen legacys keeps dropping, and I keep buying more, at some point I will own all the legacy in the whole world.

this one doesn't run. I'm not 100% sure why. but this legacy shall be resurrected just as SL-i will be resurrected!!

Nice buy! My old roomate wants to sell me a high mileage Spec B, but it's not $1500 though...

Nice 4th gen. If I had the dough and someone was selling a 3rd gen outback sedan or a 2-door Impreza anything, I'd be tempted.

I take responsibility that the forum isn't what it use to be. I agree with Rob that Facebook is a huge player in the fall of traditional independent online forums. But I definitely should be more active and try to add and push content on here. I'm willing to listen to ideas to get some more activity back on here. It may not be like the glory days, but I'm sure we can get a couple of posts a day. We were never a forum to just have a bunch of crap posted, quality over quantity was the way.

Hello again, friend. Life happened over the past, like, 8 years. But all the same, so glad to see this place still stands.

I got a notification a year back that my SL-i hosted magazine pics were gonna be removed if I didn't sign up my account and pay to keep 'em. So I did.

This is just one of those places I remember fondly and am pleased to see is still running. Sooo... unlike what they say... you can go home again.

Yo dude. It's been a while.
Good to see your avatar.

Yea I'm going to be pushing some new content, and try to get some subie peeps. My life is pretty hectic right now but I am making it a daily goal to log in and post once a day.

The formula to a successful forum is active members and quality content.

Maybe I need to get back into a Legacy. Somebody find me a fairly clean 2nd gen. ????

^That's getting tough bruh. Seems like they are either shitboxes or not for sale...
I saw on KSL Classifieds (the most popular classifieds in the utah area) some guy in Idaho had pretty clean sub 100k 1995 Lego with some JDM bits, and he wanted 11 grand for it. ELEVEN GRAND! with a stock 2.2 and a 4EAT.

Reason
11-17-2021, 11:32 PM
I was talking to someone about one not too long ago. I was hesitant to pull the trigger, it was green and 4eat:sad3:

Maybe next time I shouldn't be so picky.

Thing with FB is, most people just post stuff to sell

first gens are getting rare as shit, and so are the second gens. I almost ALMOST feel bad when I beat on it. I was considering briefly building an engine for the best possible gas milage and using my lego as a commuter, or building an autocross-focused shitbox but seeing as they are getting rare, I kind of want to keep it as a classic. in 10 years they are going to be almost impossible to find, so maybe I'll just keep cleaning it up and making it nicer.. or at least less of a shitbox

Here in NEPA I've never seen a 1st gen Legacy on the street, but when I went to Boxerfest there were 6-7 of them scattered around the show area and the parking lot lmao, I think 4 were turbos. I also feel like I'm starting to see less 3rd gen Legacies than 2nd gen Legacies. 4th gen and up Legacies are still common though

lord flashheart
11-28-2021, 11:55 AM
Yea, even in the scrap yard, I rarely see first gens, usually there are two or three 2nd gens, and lots of 3rd and pre-facelift 4th gens...

I've seen the occasional third-gen out and about. Strangely enough, I haven't seen a single third-gen Outback wagon.

i see a 3rd gen every time i step out the door! agreed though i havent seen a 1st gen in ages. I do see quite a bit of the 2nd gen wagons. cant recall the last time i saw a 2nd gen sedan. most of the 3rds i see on the street are beat down 4cyl outbacks.

I don't miss my 2003 outback (though, on the subaruoutback forum-it's a second gen-because there was no outback model based on the greatest generation of legacys:smt029- even though it's on the third gen legacy platform,

Easier to follow a Thread than a timeline etc. on FB too.
I only use FB to keep in touch with my childhood hometown.

Hey not dead forum! Quick question - is anyone interested in my 2000 Legacy GT 5MT sedan for parts? It hasn't been started in quite some time and the last time, a brake line had rusted out in the back somewhere and spilled out all the fluid so it would be a trailer kind of sale.

Partial list of parts worth saving - JDM Bilstein struts and springs, Sedan JDM tail light and Legacy garnish, Cobb EL header through bad CAT section, Perrin Lightweight pully, Delicious Stage 1 (or 2, I can't remember) flashed ECM for the EJ251, not the EJ252 that comes in the 2000 5MT (I swapped a whole bunch of parts, cam pulleys, sensors, intake manifold, and added a wiring harness to make the 252 into a 251), Delta 1500 cams, manifold spacers, A spare 5MT that might not be all that good, a spare rear differential with parts to rebuild it, A remanufactured 2004 STi steering rack still in the box as the steering knuckle mismatch was more than I wanted to tackle, Whiteline rear diff bushings still in box, Whiteline Tierods and Anti-Lift Kit still in box, that might be it.

I moved on to Subaru cars that I don't wrench on, 2020 Impreza, 2023 Ascent so I am still in the family. Would love to get my hands on a newer than 2000 MT Subaru as I miss driving this one but they are getting hard to find if I don't need the WRX flash at this point in my life. If I could find a good 3rd Gen sedan or Outback Sedan but we are getting into the classic car age now and most have found their way off the road.

Anyway, long post to kick the forum. If there is any interest left I could get around to posting a classified with proper pictures. I don't even have a number I would be looking for yet.

I can't believe I timed out while writing this post.
