View Full Version : European Muse's absolute mistake
Sooo, when the Outback blew up, back in May, I had to get wheels under me.
So I made the biggest mistake in my automotive life, and bought a $900 Audi A4 1.8t from my boss, knowing that he had done a lot of maintenance recently. Then I got fired for flipping out on my assistant manager (Who totally deserved it.)
I am not a smart man.
This thing came with a huge exhaust leak, a vacuum leak, a misfire at idle, a hard-shifting transmission, and a whole heap of "just in case" parts. Exhaust is fixed, transmission has been flushed, and is shifting marginally better, and the vacuum leak is next, hopefully that'll fix the misfire at idle.
I'm in it for about $1,500, and I refuse to put more than $2,000 in, and that is on the high end.

Welcome to the European side lol. At first I thought my GTI gave me less problems than any of my Legacy's. But after having it a few years, I can honestly say my problems are about even. I love my GTI, it's a fun car to drive. It now has more power to the wheels than my 2010 LGT, but being only FWD, the LGT is better. All the problems you had/have, I had some and or a buddy of mine had the same. In the end, his car couldn't be save, it caught on fire and burned to a quick death (the car, not my friend).
The 1.8t are supposed to be "bulletproof", that doesn't include everything attached to it unfortunately. If you need any help trouble shooting let me know, I feel like I know these cars pretty well now.
Nice Audi
No. No, it is not. It is very not nice.
And pretty soon, it will be very gone. Bye, Felicia. I hope to recoup what I put into it, but I'm accepting that I probably won't get that. Something real exciting to me is on the horizon, and has the correct badge on it.

So then... we shall wait and see what is coming, then... yes...
