Hello everyone, I'm quiet a newbie on this forum so I hope my thread is posting under the correct topic

My 2016 legacy started to have trouble starting up recently, it will took longer time to start after I press the ignition button. However, this situation happened by chance, the mechanic at the dealership and I could not reproduce the symptom 100%.

We thought the battery was the cause in the first place so we replaced it with a new battery but the symptom persisted.
Then the mechanic did his little trick testing the fuel pump but only found the it function properly every single time.
With the battery and the fuel pump ruled out, we eyed on the starter (25230AA170 manufactured by DENSO).

Unfortunately, there is no new starter at the dealership and i want to fix this soon, so I went online and found the website named Amayama have the parts but the price is ... surprising low. Have anyone bought parts from Amayama?

Any help is appreciated, Thank you.

I have bought many things from Amayama. They are quite good, but expect that any order will take at least 5-10 days to ship as they do not stock any parts and order everything on-demand from Subaru Japan.

That said, 25230AA170 is not the part number for the whole starter. It is the part number for just the relay that attaches to the side of the Auto-start/stop version of the starter. That said, what region are you from? We did not get auto-start/stop here in the states in 2016, so I need to know in what region to look up for the part number of the motor assembly.

Thank you so much :thumbright:

I figured it out a few days ago while i was waiting for reply. The starter was manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric according to the Factory Manual shared in the forum. I'm not sure whether you might find the correct part number for the motor assembly (I tired but not having any luck, perhaps i was searching with wrong information) since this is a BN9 sold in mainland China with the applied model as BN9BL6C... but it was imported from Japan (basically the whole car was manufactured in Japan except the infotainment system).

It would be wonderful if you can find the part number.

Thanks for helping me out :o

Okay, then in that case, the Starter motor itself should be 23300AA800. It does not seem to come with that relay though, so you either need to buy the 25230AA170 relay as well, or swap your old one over along with all of the brackets and wiring.
