another problem with my unlucky legacy!

today i was driving back home and my car was running fine. Then i got to a red light and my car started making this click/screching noise and was running very weak. I looked around in the engin bay and every thing looks normal exept the engin shakes alot more than it did before. Could it be a transmision mount or engin mount? I just got the clutch replaced could that have anything to do with it? Any help would be great.
I think my car is un lucky or if i got ripped off . only 80,000 miles on it

Your engine could be so poorly held in place that it shakes at idle, but that is not likely.

I would guess your engine is missing and that is causing it to be out of balace/run poorly.

I think he meant one of the two mounts is missing, causing it to run quite unbalanced.

How is your alternator? Mine did something like that. Had it replace and the engine was running smooth. Oh yea it was Subaru who replaced it, there was a recall on them.

I would do that, but I think you'd notice everything start dying (like power windows and the radio) before the engine if the alternator were causing the problems.

that could be anything. Have a dork look at it.

If its a mount (which i doubt due to it running poorly) you should be able to shake the engine back and forth A LOT. Might try unplugging spark plugs one at a time and see how they affect the motor running. If one doesn't affect operation like the others do, you know to try changing your plug and wire there. Screeching sounds like a seized accessory, most likely the alternator. Take off the acc. belt and check the accessories for free play.

I was saying what scottzg said but in fewer words.

The engine may be not running on all cylinders, or missing on one cylinder. This will show itself as the car running rough and less power, but often it will still start fine. Pulling plug wires off and checking if the car runs the same or not is a good way to confirm this and find which cylinder it is. Than you can dig deeper into what is causing it. It is also a good way to get a nasty shock from the coil. Be sure to turn the engine off while touching the wires and take other safety precautions.

I took it to car craft (a local buissnes) and there looking at it. i'll let ya'll know whats going on when i find out.

i agree i think it is mis-firing. mine did the same thing, shake, lack of power. but who knows.
