Anyone have any experience with these? I know WRX and LGT guys have used them with positive results. Most of the other car reviews I've read on these were positive as well.

I was thinking of running lower spring rates, 6kg f/7kg r (vs. 7f/9r) to keep a decent ride on rough roads and rallycross events.

Shoot away!

Never had any experience with them, I stick to Tein and D2

wow ok brain fart. Yea theyre great, never had any issues with them. Granted we've never used them on a legacy before, I know they make good stuff.

would something like this work on my Outback wagon?

Yep, although you'd be losing the outback-ness. It will be lowered significantly, itll go to regular legacy suspension wise.

Im still thinking about something like this, though I drive an outback, I dont leave the pavement. Living in south west georgia, there isn't much to do "off road" in an ob, and I honestly love the look of a lowered wagon.

I'm looking into these coilovers for my BE, I'm wondering if their highest setting is stock height or lower, anyone have thoughts/experience?

They won't ever get back to stock height IIRC I think the highest they can go is about 10-15mm lower than stock, and they can't use anything but a spring rate that is 3 times stiffer than stock due to the decreased suspension travel in the shock (to allow for lowering).

If you can get them for a decent price (below 1000) and are just after the height adjustment and not serious performance use, I don't see anything bad about them...

Nice, that's about all I will use them for.

Do they have to be rebuilt after a while? how much does it usually cost?

here is a little info for all you guys... all the cheap coilovers are made in the same factory in Taiwan or China... megan, Ksport, D2, etc... the strut portion is the exact same, with terrible valving that are prone to blow with excessive lowering or hard use. Only thing different are the topmounts and springs. Don't even think about changing the springs either because these will not react well because of their valving. Something like a swift spring will make a quick death for these cheap coilovers. Seriously guys, take it from someone who has run just about the full spectrum, do it right the first time. It's cheaper to spend the extra money up front that to be cheap the first time and have to suffer for it later.

the cheap coilovers are also sealed units, meaning no rebuilds. If you try, they'll tell you to purchase another strut unit and switch over your springs and perches.

What would be a better choice for a BE then? Can you recommend one?

give a couple months and I'll let you know haha, I'm currently waiting for my Tein Flex to arrive from japan. I went with Tein because they can be serviced here in the united states and because they are special order, they come to us US customers still with JDM spec valving. If you don't plan on lowering a whole lot or using your suspension aggressively, you will probably be alright with any of the cheap coilovers, but I think before I'd do them I would probably go with a quality strut and ground control setup. I know bilstein makes replacement struts for the BE/BH chassis specifically valved for lowered vehicles and the ground control will allow you to have height adjustment. your only obstacle then would be camber adjustment and if you bought a set of topmount with camber adjustment, that will solve that as well. you could put together a system like that for about the price of a megan or ksport coilover system with far better reliability and quality. It won't allow you quite the height adjustment that a coilover will, but from what I've seen very few of the subaru guys actually "slam" their vehicles anyway. That is my .02. For your money, I'd probably sacrifice a little adjustment for the reliability that a bilstein or koni yellow would allow you. Either that or pony up and special order a set of the Tein's like I did. I also found that Kbee, CST, and cusco make special order coils, however I could not find if/if not they are serviceable in the US. I found that cusco most likely IS NOT from a cusco dealer, but that they are able to be serviced if you can find a performance shop who will do it. Most motorcross shops will tear into a coilover if you want them to, but no warranty would be given obviously if it wasn't done by a cusco accredited repairer.
