Sunroof sunshade prob

I have an '01 GT wagon with the dual sunroofs. Both sunroofs function properly but the sunshade on the forward sunroof only goes back 1/2 way. It is kind tough getting it back even that far, like it's not in its track all the way or something. It looks like the forward half of the shade is supposed to slide back over the rear half, but when the shade gets about half way back it stops dead like it's hitting something, and the front half won't budge any further. This is my 1st Subbie and I've not had dual sunroofs in any other car either so I don't have any experience with this kind of thing. Is this a common issue? Is there a simple fix?

I had the reverse problem on my GT - the shade would only close half way (a bitch when the sun got behind your sunglasses. My fix was just to give it a good yank and hope for the best. Seems to work fine now. Poke around the shade and pull down the headliner a bit to see if you can spot a problem in the shade track. My wifes OUtback has totally non functioning dual sunroofs and shades, probably broken by the previous owner (as well as many other things on the car like the clock knob) so it seems like these mechanisms are easily broken if abused. Good luck - its probably just a matter of a quide out of a track.
