View Full Version : Courtesy light

Hi, I've got a 1994 JDM RS (BD5).

The courtesy lights work on the manual switches but not when the door opens.

Any idea where I should start looking?

Open the door. Look for a rubber button on the inside of the doorframe, that would be pushed down when the door closes. If that switch is broken, it won't be making the connection to turn on the lights.

does this apply to just the driver's door or all 4 doors? If it's all 4, it probably isn't a swtich in the door then, it might be a relay or a fuse.

I don't think it's the switch because the circular green light around the ignition comes on when the door opens.

As you said, the lights don't come on regardless of which door is opened.

Any idea which fuse panel I should be looking at?
I've seen one under the bonnet and two under the drivers kick panel.

Okay, rule out the swtich...

I would think it'd be one of the interior ones. There should be a "map" on the inside of each cover for the fuse block, and you can just look for the likely fuse that way. Otherwise, check the bulb and the wiring behind it.

You're right, there is a map.

Unfortunately for me it's all in Japanese!

Guess it'll be trial and error.
