I just got my 91 turbo SS inspected after it had been sitting in a driveway for over a year, It passed to my surprise. It looks like it is not AWD I thought that they all were. And there is a little black button just above the auto gear shift right by the P. I dont know what it is, can anyone tell me. Very impressed that the car passed after sitting for so long and the way it has been Idleing. HOORAY LEGACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol:

i think it's the "manual" button. not manual like 5 spd manual but i think it helps with winter driving, holding gears or something.

maybe someone could elaborate on this a little, it's been a while for me...

its not the manual button its on the console not on the shifter . and there is nothing around it to identify it

Well, I don't know what that button is, I'm sure a 1st gen owner could tell you though.

But yeah, if it's an SS, it's most definitely AWD.

Congrats, I've heard of modified SS's passing the sniffer test w/o catalytic converters :grin:

I couldnt see anything underneath the vehicle to indicate AWD and on the lift only the front wheels would spin. Am I wrong

no rear differential? wtf...and you have an SS? I must be wrong about them all being AWD or something...

note: it could be the FWD fuse being inserted, but the visual check proved otherwise, apparently, although I didn't see it myself...

Check for rear drive shafts. They're either there or they aren't :lol: Automatics are 90/10 split for their AWD, so the fronts may be spinning because it is a primarily FWD car, and only really engages the rear when it detects slipping.

The black button takes the car out of park when the car is off...;)

To use:
-Turn car off
-Push button down and keep it depressed while at the same time pressing the shifter button and moving to the desired location.

haha, and that manual button is pretty useless. Basically you press that button during the winter time and it suppose to work "wonders"... :lol: If I remember right, you put the car into 1st and the car will start in the 2nd... if you put the car in 2nd the car will start in 3rd... and this is with the manual button pressed.

Thanks guys I had never seen that kind of button on an auto before. Im liking the car and am looking forward to making it a little better and fun to drive. It is weird to blend in to traffic Ive always stuck out in the nissans and bmw, mitsubishis and others. NO ONE LOOKS AT ME ANYMORE YEAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
