A little nip tuck action, heck yeah!

yeah, it doesn't take much to get it to fit.

Are you thinking of big lights to go in the holes, or keeping the covers on for hawtness?

Keep the covers, FTW!

PS: How much did that cost?

Lights won't fit with a FMIC...

My Hellas are pretty darn shallow, I'm not sure exactly what the design of the FMIC is either, it depends entirely on the spacing behind the bumper, and the inlets on the IC, really.

Yeah I don't think this pic is a very good example. That's not an OEM RS bumper plus that FMIC is a frickin monster! Also notice the IC inlet/outlet are centered whereas mine are located at the bottom of the unit.

Here's a better example (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/dcclement85/trak.jpg)

That's a pretty monster FMIC as well, and there are some nice lookin' fogs peekin' out of there too.

Yes please! The bumper should fit, there was a thread on NASIOC about it. called "bumper profiles similar to ours?" or something. A guy in england (also on this site) did it. And that will look amazing!

That FMIC ^^^ (WRB GC on strip) is the same as the one I have pictured. His is a Hyperflow and mine is a TXS (which is a hyperflow)

Just eye-balling where the IC pipes must go; it looks like I'll be needing an Impreza radiator too.. The Legacy one has the lower inlet hose in the way for the IC pipe to fit. No biggie really as I'd like to upgrade my radiator anyway. It's a left over from the AT -> MT swap and has the integrated AT oil cooler which takes core room away from the water cooling. Throw a big FMIC in front of it and it "might" be just enough to keep it from cooling correctly. I've always ran a bit hot anyway.

Seriously, foglights add more weight to the front end. Run with the covers.

If you run driving lights, that's a +1 to safety on backroads and such. since you have JDM projecters, it's your high beams that are lacking now.

Should fit with some work, but youll need a 95-96 grill. Maybe some sideskirts if the bumper sticks out too much.

Aren't there highbeams right next to the grill of the lights? There's two sets of lights in there I thought?

Yeah, it doesn't work...

But hacking up the LGT bumper is a piece of cake

Paint it black.

xcntrk75
10-23-2006, 12:07 PM
^^^
Yeah, I’m SCARD!!!

Once you paint it black there’s no going back.
Seriously; choosing the type of paint seems critical as there’s lots of room for error with paint runs gumming up the fins, etc. Also I’m not sure how painting it would change the heat exchanging characteristics of the aluminum; painting could actually make it perform worse. Also the upkeep with constant touch-up would be a drag…

Besides, I have an IC nitrous spray bar kicking around I might install on it just for the rice factor, even though I don’t even intend to hook it up ;)

Find a place that can spray it and bake it with ceramic. That actually increases the heat transfer, and is more sturdy than paint. Only downside is cost :(

spray bar ftw. do it

But that’s the kicker… Ceramic coatings are intended to keep heat in, or more specifically, keep heat from exchanging. So granted a ceramic coating would keep any hot engine air from being soaked up by the intercooler core, but wouldn’t do anything to actually “cool” better. Besides that core mounted low in the front isn’t going to be exposed to much hot engine air anyway, especially with the fans on pulling ambient air from the front.

Like I said, I just don’t see any value in painting it other then strictly appearance. Would be nice to have it blacked out but not at the cost of performance…

Wiscon_Mark
10-23-2006, 04:02 PM
yeah, I don't know what on earth sheepdog is thinking on this one...I always thought ceramic coating was for insulating, not exchanging.

sheepdog
10-23-2006, 04:19 PM
I was under the impression that there was some kind of coating you could get that increased heat transfer... I thought it was ceramic. Oh well, I'm retarded.

xcntrk75
10-24-2006, 08:25 AM
Not retarded, I’m sure there’s something out there. APS for example offers a couple of their front-mount cores painted/anodized/baked (whatever) in black, although I think this is strictly for appears preference.
