hey all,
i just got some 16 inch wrx wheels and went to put them on my 92 liberty with air bag suspension, when i put them on the tire (which is a 225/50/16) rubbed against the cup on the strut. Has anyone had this problem at all with your wheels? how did u overcome this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

Tire width is too wide.

Stock tires on the WRX rim are 205/55/16 - what is the stock profile on your 92 Legacy?

Use this calculator to maintain your rolling circumference...

how bad is the rubbing? front or rear? You may be able to use a spacer to move the wheel out a little further - 5mm is the max I would go though to prevent bad juju to your hubs and lugs. WRX wheels are higher offset than even the aftermarket ones I think...55mm vs. the usual 48mm so it makes sense the tires would be rubbing the inside bits of the wheelwell.

225's seem to be the widest the older Legacies (even the BD ones). You may get rubbing depending on the offset.

i couldnt even drop it off the jack because the tires would have pushed and snapped the airbag cups on the struts, i didnt even bother with the fronts cause the rear were so bad. Not to worry anymore though, just gonna replace the tires on the wheels i;ve got on there now. thanx for the info.
