I have a 99 Legacy GT, 140,000km on it.. Never had the HG replaced, just wondering how you can tell if its a Phase I or Phase II?? I bought it at 122,000km.. coolant is nice and green, every 5000km when I change oil, it only loses about 1/4 of a litre which isn't too bad I believe

The date on the driver door says 01/99

It's most likely a DOHC, but which model I don't know.

Well, based on the door stamp I would say it's a Phase II DOHC - because in 2000 they started using SOHC's.

hmmm, tricky to tell. The RS got the PhaseII before the Legacy did. I doubt you got a phaseII, but it's possible.

My buddy has a '99 GT and his door says 3/99 with a Phase II installed. There are very subtle differences. The factory intake tubes are different between my '98 GT (Phase I) and his '99 GT (Phase II).

Hm.. I was more concerned with the head gasket.. I heard Phase II are not so prone to that problem.. :|
