OEM Seats that AREN'T high?

I have 06 USDM STi front seats in my 98 Wagon and they sit too damn high...I'm 6 ft and the steering wheel is low and its weird. Do any of the USDM or JDM seats sit lower?

This fact troubles me...I'm thinking whenever I get some seats (probably WRX or STi seats, or some B4 RSK seats if I can swing it) I'm going to work on adjusting the brackets so they sit a lot lower. I happen to really like sitting low in the car, it give me a much more attatched feeling to the road. You could try some 98-01 RS/Impreza seats, I don't think they sit as high as the newer Impreza seats do.

only other legacy seats. all impreza seats, be it jdm or usdm will sit higher. usdm might be better because the height adjustment is on the drivers as opposed to the jdm being opposite. but if you're thin like me, the support of the jdms is far superior. usdm = fat.

i have heard of people swapping the rails. i'm 6'3", and i just got used to it, i sat way back and put the wheel up. because i'm sooooo gangsta :roll: .

swapping rails off a Legacy? I didn't put these in...I bought the car like this. He said they bolted right in but I don't know. Its weird thinking the stock seats sit lower than the STis because the Legacy back seats are way higher than the STi front seats. How much lower are the regular Legacy seats? I can't really lean way back..neck issues...I need the back support upright.

The STi seats do bolt right in - the mounting brackets just sit higher, and the base cushion is also higher. There is no fabrication needed.

I'll swap you my stock seats for yours....I'm 5'8". :twisted:

the inserts themselvescan be swapped, or re-wrapped accordingly.

the only difference between the bolting down of the seats is there is one bolt you don't use with the impreza seats that you stockers use.

Send me pics of the seats and door panels. Judging by the miles I'm not sure how nice they are? I would rather have black leather but I'll check them out. If they match my stock back seat that would be awesome.

There are some minor nicks in the doorskins that you can't see when they're closed (I never look there anyway, I'm too busy driving).
The drivers seat you won't want anyway. I just discovered tonight that the outer left cushion is collapsing off the support.

You should post your 06 seats on LERSOC though - I am sure you will get some interest there. Local too.

not to rag on you, but i just don't understand why someone would want the legacy leather seats. imo, i think they are awful and cheap looking, and very unsupportive. i'd take the cloth in my other leg anyday, i can't wait till my new ones come in.

I've looked for a way to modify WRX seats on both sets I've had, and the problem is not the rail, it's the seat construction itself. The whole slider assembly, and bottom seat cushion, jsut sit that much higher.

I gave up and bought Recaros. Sit nice and low, and bolt in with Wedge brackets.

Where you get the wedge brakets? Which Recaros did you use? I'm guessing SRDs?

Actually bought a pair of red SRD's, sold them, then a single black Speed (the new version of the SRD, only the name is different)

Second seat came with a wedge bracket, but the first set I got direct from Wedge. Their page sucks, but just call themand they'll take care of you.

01 impreza RS seats sit very low in a legacy for some reason. I am 6'4" and am running 2.5rs seats with there stock sliders in my BJ and they are great. Lower then the seats that came with it originally actually. Much more comfy and side supportive too. I ran 05 wrx seats for about 5 days and sold em for these. Cost me $40.00 too.

I had a friend that just bolted the seat in his altima to the floor, and threw out the rails.

Have you looked at rails for aftermarket seats?
