I need your thoughts (once again!)

Hello all:
Ok, so where to begin... hum... well I'm studying Industrial Design (google is your friend if you have no idea what I.D. is...:grin:) in college and am planning on starting an automotive business here soon. I'm planning to open a custom fiberglass/CF business here shortly (next few months). I have a few concept drawings of parts, but no actual products yet. My market will be mainly to Subaru owners of the 02 and below range, but will also do other types of cars. So what I'm wondering I guess... what would you like to see? I already am developing a Wagon mid-spoiler that doesn't cover up the center garnish, an interior center piece to put a touch screen LCD, a special "piece" for a better intake (ie better airflow into the engine bay), and a few other interior pieces. But ya, let me know your thoughts! They would be greatly appreciated!

J money, I'll draw some prototypes up and see what I can come up with and get back to you. The CF though is going to have to wait more than likely as that's a little more pricy and more in-depth. I'm planning to start with the fiberglass work for now. But I'll get back to you.

JKirk-BE parts sound nice, but he needs a BE to use as a guinea pig. HFSdevil might be able to oblige him.

Intake stuff sounds nice.

How about a nice intake that actually fits 100% instead of the two ebay intakes-one of which is too short, one too long?

I know this, but good manufacturers also know to test on more than one vehicle for fitment :wink:

Once I get up and running, yes I will need a few um "test" vechicles to showcase my products. As of right now I'm thinking after I get a few parts physically made, the "testers" will just need to pay for shipping and parts... but that's all up in the air right now.

I already have products, a name, and know where to get materials... now I just need time. So don't expect anything like um in the next 3 days. I should be up and running though by the end of the year.

I want a CF or fiberglass tray that replaces the passenger side airbag!! I looked everywhere for one, and several others on nasioc have too. My dash is a 2005 wrx model, but im sure people would appreciate one regardless of model.

Also, a CF tray to go in the rear window would be cool :twisted: I would be down to be a test car for both. I'd of course pay whatever id need to, just to be the first one! lol

I'd like to see some new style grilles, foglamp covers, a subtle version of an STI v5 spoiler (blend between v4 and v5), a blanking plate for the rear quarter windows (substitute for glass as a weight saver).

How about some side/wing mirrors too? Use stock internals, but a different shape exterior....tough I think.

We're talking about putting the cupholders in places besides in front of the radio & the HVAC, as well as making them stronger so they don't break (whether it be a big gulp or not).

I'm just looking at the laundry list of items, and the cost of an item is related to the number of units sold. The more produced, the quicker the process becomes, the cheaper the part. I wouldn't want him to get stretched too thin.

I also like my cup holder. A piece of industrial strength velcro on the front bar, and a corresponding strip on the back of my MP3 player means I have a quick disconnect stereo :twisted:

have you seen regular size cups these days? They're freakin' huge! A medium in a gas station is like a triple XL anywhere else in the world. No wonder more Americans are getting diabetes...

Relocated to where? There is only the center console, anywhere lower on the dash requires moving the DIN pockets.

I already use my center console/storage box as a cup holder. It's in the middle of the car, so less spillage.

Ive seen those before... not on Subaru's, but I think on SUV's, haha. Wait... we can't put it there... that's where I store all my used gum wrappers... :roll: But seriously, good idea!

I'm thinking the cup holder might be mounted like it is in a Mini Cooper... to the side of the center console. Would anyone not be in favor of that?

Anyways, yeah, I think you'd get some buyers for that rear cupholder design! I'm not just thinking of people on SLi, but subarugenuinparts, all-subaru, and subaruparts.com get into the aftermarket accessories, and you could really boom off that ;)
