whoa! I remember dicussing this with the n00bs on Nasioc 3 months ago
J/K, I hope it's more than just ceremonial and it actually gets used, because a winterized LGT cop car would be pretty potent.

they use them... they work really well... no one thinks that the legacy they just flew past was a cop... they chose the legacy because they needed a AWD car that could perform in the summer and the winter with no modifications... they chose the right car

A wingless STi would've been more what they were looking for, excepting rear seat room. But then again, who cares if the arrested dude isn't comfortable? I think legroom is the last thing on his mind

over seas they use STis as cop cars... if i were to be chased by that i would just pull over and give up...even the Legacy, not the cars to be chased by

Nah, with the low profile scoop and the Camry-esque taillights, the legacy is ultra stealth at night and low-light situations.
When a speeder blows by a "Camry"...

in the SubieSport ardical they said that the car has radars in the front and rear of the car to catch speeders in both directions... i would never think twice when i blow passed anything but the standerd crown vic, i would never think the Legacy would pull me over

there are lights under the car alonf with some more that blend in with the third brake light
you can't tell that it is a cop unless you really look...

I have noticed them using the low profile LED strobes here a few months ago, on the unmarked cars it is pretty hard (near impossible) to tell that they are pigs.
Around here the newest highway cars are Dodge Chargers, that is a fast patrol car, size of a Crown Vic and fast as or faster than the persuit cars.
I hope these new cars as as tough as the older ones. That was the biggest problem with the Intrepids that tried to be cop cars, the Impala's are kind of the same, just built too weak.
I'll bet the Charger and the Legacy are only 'light duty' cars unless they are full of reinforcements all over the place.

The new Dodge Chargers are catching on here. I'll try to get some pictures of the town's new car that I work for the FD in...mean lookin. They went all LED too...the lightbars are of a much lower profile and hard to pick out sometimes during the daytime, and much more at night.
The days of the standard Crown Vic are in the past I'd say. Other companies have much more to offer.

There's at least one in the city I go to church in - I see the car early in the morning on Sundays...prowlin' the freeway looking for sinners!

Half the cops in point are in unmarked cars...except that the stance of the CV and the little spotlight on the driver's side kinda gives it away

In the city we have the new Impalas, highway gets the Chargers and the freakin suburbs have unmarked.. not even the unmarked Crown Vics with the black wheels and municipal license plates, I mean totally stock Crown Vic.. bastards got me a couple months ago

the spotlight does not mean anything where i live... all of the blacks have CV and Caprice with them... when they strip an old cop car they leave the light on and then auction it off... and all of the blacks that like the big cars buy them and leave the light on

We all know the charger is fast, but I was surprised to read the numbers that it posted up on the skidpad and the times it did in slalom. It handles pretty well too.
