What can i do with the Ej22 or what should i do from there?

I would love to go turbo but without having to change engine.
Changing the engine is not out of the question but i would like to know what can be done to improve the Ej22 or what i should look for if a swap is more recommended.

There are things you can do to that engine, including turbocharging. However, you will never be able to run more than 5-6 pounds of boost. Long story short, you'll end up spending more money trying to up the power in that engine, and will never make as much power as you would using that money to swap.

5-6 lbs? reddevil was running 12 psi regularly with his supercharger (read: more frequently boosted than a turbo) with a good tune on a STOCK EJ22E.

EJ22, you can do an intake, exhaust, cams, thinner head gaskets, and a lightweight crank pulley or lightened flywheel. You can also swap the bottom end for an EJ25 bottom end. Here's some reading material:

Well, he was kinda making everything from scratch with no EM. Turbo kits are a little less dodgy. I was just saying, that with a good tune, and the appropriate fuel system, you can push a lot more on the stock block.

But what kind of money are you going to spend to do that mark? Just swap it for a wrx motor, you'll be happier in the long run.

on fuel system and such? It's usually part of the turbo kit. the block wasn't modified at all.

seems like swapping injectors and thicker head gaskets should make the engine happy to ~250hp. Thats not more than 5-6 hours work at a leisurely pace.
