So the other day, all of the sudden my right head light goes dim, and the bright lights indicator came on. thing is, the high beams arent on, when i turn them on the right head light gets dimmer. i thought this may be a bad bulb, so i went to the parts store, and got a new set. replace both, still have the same problem.

i tried switching the left and right relays around, same thing.

and with the high beams indicator on, the fog lamps wont come on.

im in a 97 BG.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem?

fuse maybe? or did you check the wires if something came loose? are these stock headlights? i had a similar problem when i put in my projectors and that just took retrying the wiring until it was right.

yeah they are stock headlights, and i havent messed with the wiring. i was messing around under the panel under the steering wheel trying to remove the cell phone microphone thig that the previous owner instsalled. i may have made something come loose. i dont really know.

it comes on, but barely. and when you turn the lights on, the high beam indicator is on all the time, even when the high beams are off.

i hope i am explaining my problem so that everyone can understand it. lol. im not bvery good at explaining things.

Hopefully this doesn't scare you, but recently I had fried my whole fuse box, my hazard lights would come on, only one headlight would come on, the horn wouldn't shut up.. all this with my key out of the ignition.

I was messing about with the main fuse box under the hood and some how managed to short something which caused other wires to short and some more to fry.. basically.. if your high beam indicator is always on, I'd start with the fuses, if they're ok, then I'd look at your wiring harnesses.. wehre you were looking under the dash.. it cost me $1000 to fix, 13 hours at the dealer in labour.. but the dealer was so nice they only charged me $60/hour compared to their regular $95/hour

okso, i gotto mess around with it today.

i checked the fuse on the right hand headlamp....blown....replaced it, turned lights on blew again.

tried another fuse, turn lights off, pushed switch forward to engage the high beams, truned on lighs, didnt blow....as soon as i switch down to low beams, it blows the fuse.

i started wiggling the harness for the lamp, it gets dim and bright if i mess with it. im wondering if it mmay be that the harness is grounding out.....or possibly the switch is grounding out.

It's just a bad harness. Make a custom one while you're in there, with thicker wiring.

Set it up so that you get thick wiring directly from the battery, with a relay attatched to the old harness to turn the relay on. Should make your headlights brighter in the process. 12volt relays are easy to come by @ Radioshack. It just sounds like the high beams are grounding out somewhere, thus why you're getting a dim light and blowing fuses.

now that i have looked around a little, and lookind through my new spiffy haynes manual. i think it may be a problem with ther fogs. they wont come on at all. and from the haynes manual it looks as if they are wired with the right headlamp. i bought a new harness yesterday and a small roll of wire. i just dont know exactly what the problem is so i dont wantto go replacing stuff. maybe ill take a look at the fogs,.....if it ever stops raining

Closely inspect the connectors to the lamps, they are known to melt with time. There might be a short in one of them.
