Fuel Consumption

Hi there everybody!

I am new to this forum. The reason to join in was that I have just orderred a Subaru Legacy GTB Limited wagon from Japa, my first ever Subaru. And so being part of a forum would be nice and helpful too!

I would like to know the estimated fuel consumption of the GT wagons. The one I have ordrred runs on an EJ20 twin turbo motor and has an automatic gearbox.

Would someone know roughly what the consumption is. Someone told me these cars are guzzlers, giving only 4 Kms to a litre, which does not really sound realistic for a 2.0l 4 cylinder engine.

I can't say as these were not available in the States. However, I wouldn't expect great consumption from a twin turbo though, regardless of displacement...

I don't know for sure, but I'm estimating based on the WRX EJ20 single turbo fuel ratings.

The GTB is awesome, but just don't wick up the boost, or remove the primary turbo cat - the motor will lunch itself.

But HOLD ON tight when the tach reaches 4000rpm, the 2ndary turbo will kick in.

The fuel economy you will get is directly related to how heavy your foot is, and how well tuned the car is. Cars in Japan run on 100RON octane - I hope that Tanzania has at least 98 RON or equivalent, otherwise you will use comparatively more gas, and get less power.

Friends of mine have gotten fuel economy of 525km/tank on road trips, and around 350km/tank around city. Those guys are conservative drivers though.

This gives me a fair idea as to what to expect. At the moment I have a Nissan cefiro 2.0l straight 6 automatic non-turbo. This gives me almost the same consumption as what you guys have mentioned for the GT wagon.

My GT is expected to land here around the 22nd Oct. I shall post pics of the car as soon as I have it. I have planned some mods for it like neons inside and outside, some nice music system and maybe a brushed alluminium dash kit. Where can I get a right hand drive one, the kits I found on the net are all left hand drive???

Hmmm, I'd really tend to say you have better aftermarket support in Japan...keep looking, I think you'll find something.

Err, those mods are universal, left to right... even the dash kit - you could just faux paint your peices, or remove them, have the templates made up.

except for the power window switch panels, I think they're reversed.

Though most of the parts of the dash kits are universal but bits like the power window switch surrounds and the air condition vents on either end of the dash differ. May be not using those at all will do.

Mine is a GT-B Limited. I am just so excited and cant wait for the car to arrive!
