Heater NOT working!

I'm so sick of finding things wrong with the car that the buyer decided to not mention even know I asked him about this stuff. My heater doesn't work. My AC blows cold as hell but NO heat. Could it be as simple as a burnt up fuse? If not what else could it be? How do I check these things?

Try burping the cooling system - I had a similar problem with my car when I did a timing belt and waterpump change - I had air in the coolant system and it initially took awhile to heat up.

You can pull the thermostat (drain the coolant first) and that should tell you if it's not working?

How much resistance do you feel when you put the slider into the "heat zone" ?

It could be that the cable is not connected to the heater unit, and that would be why it's stuck in "cold"

Theres no resistance...it clicks as I move it all the way over though. My gfs integra is so resistant I'm affraid to break it.

did the previous owner happen to change the interior lights to red or some other color besides stock? (stock was green, btw)

I'm guessing the cable isn't attatched.

You aren't overheating at all, are you? Just though it might be signs of a headgasket, but I doubt it.

the lights are still green. The last owner just had all the head gaskets, thermostat, radiator fluid changed so I don't see how it could be anything with the engine.

Well, I still think it's the cable.

On the left side of the passenger footwell, underneath the dash, is a white lever hanging off a large heater manifold. If you slide it, it will slide toward and away from you, if you are facing the front of the car. It's not too hard to find, it'll have a cable attatched to it somewhere. Slide that around (with the car warmed up) and see if you don't get any heat. If the cable I referred to earlier is broken or disconnected in any way, this will bypass that problem.

I think if it were a coolant issue, it wouldn't blow completely cold, but would be ineffectively warm, that's why I'm stuck on this notion.

Well...maybe when the last guy had the radio put in they messed up something. I'll look into that.

Ok...so I just checked out the cable and white plastic plate under the dash. It was stuck in the AC position so I moved it toward the front of the car to put it in the HOT position. Now that I've done the quick fix. How would I go about fixing this so I don't have to reach under the dash to change the temp?

You'll have to take the HVAC controls out and see where the connection problem for the cable is. It's most likely on the back of the control unit.

I fixed the problem. the bracket holding the cable behind the controls was broke so the cable was moving around freely when the controls were moved. thanks to that guy that loaded the legacy service manual!
