I think it'd look better without the fairing(?). Sport bikes look like fat latino girls. Fiery but still fat. I love the slimmed down look of buell bikes and such. Or could you not even run the bike like that?

Strange how this thread came back up. That bike has no fairing's on it anymore. I got cut off Friday and totaled the bike. I think I was doing around 50 and got cut off. Front tire locked and laid the bike down. The bike went one way when I let go and I went another. My friend said I slid around 100 feet and rolled about 30 times. My back went 150 feet or so till it was stopped by a telephone pole. The bike slammed then spun around the pole before it stopped. My brother stripped the bike yesterday and we were figuring out to fix it or not. My buddy is guessing around $3500 and I paid $2100 for the bike. So I'm going to sell the bike and get another one next year. Luckily I had my helmet (which I always where) that's what I felt first hit the ground. I only came out with road rash on my left arm and shoulder. My knees and elbows and banged and scraped up. Bruised heel sore ribs and a sprained ankle. Best thing of all the bike still started and sounded great. My next bike may be the same one or a Suzuki TL1000.

sorry to hear that man.

that's funny (odd, not humor), when i crashed my quad i scraped up my left arm and leg and spraind my ankle too. weird. the only rolling it did was over my legs, and not itself thankfully. i guess  .

+1 on the helmet 100 bajillion %, i hate seeing people without them, i'm glad i had mine.

Good to hear you're okay, Shane

That sucks, Shane. Bikers get a bad name, but 90% of the time when there's an accident with a bike involved, the person driving the car wasn't paying attention and caused the accident. The main reason I haven't gotten a bike yet :-( Glad to hear you're ok though.

+12345... Main reason I haven't got a bike yet. People driving cars don't "see" bikes. Also they don't realize that a bike can accellerate many times faster than a car without even trying...

luckily it went one way and I went another. If I didn't have my helmet on...let's say people here would wonder what happened to me. My head hit the ground first, I need to get my camera out of my car and take pics of my helmet.

Reason

I need the following

Head light housing
Front fairing stay
Front plastics
Life side plastic
Mirrors --- I found cheap
seats
Gas tank
valve cover --- I found cheap
cylinder head
shifter
stayter cover
Front rim --- I found cheap

I think thats it, if I keep grabbing cheap parts off eBay all winter I could be set. Also do a few mods at the same time.

How's the insurance coverage?

They dont know about it. I also dropped it last week. I only had liability, so they wouldn't have done anything.

How's the bike rebuild coming? Any progress?
I'm currently building up my old school Kawasaki with a wide range of parts (GPz and other misc stuff).

No bike rebuild for me. I sold it last month. I'm looking for another one the same. If I can't find one the same price range I don't know what I want. I'm looking to spend around 2k tops.

You can pick up some damn nice older Ninjas & CBRs on eBay in the NY area these days. Just be patient, you find something you like.

I'm going to hold out a bit to find another gixxer. I like to get the same thing but I'll stay open minded.

Shane, if you come across anyone parting out an old Gixxer like your former one, let me know. I'm looking for the complete front suspension, rear suspension, & both wheels. Apparently I can graft those parts on to my KZ750 w/o too much modification or rigging.

I'm looking to get one next week. It's a 89 gixxer 750. I was also looking for a parts bike too. If I come across one I'll let you know.

Ouch! I take it you were wearing gear though... right? Other then your arms... Always make me wonder about Harly guys and why they insiste of those pathetic helmets!

Thats just about as bad as my buddies 01 Suzuki 1000 (dont remember what kind)... He got clipped by a Ford Ranger, tossed off his bike, dislocated his arm and the bike hit a curb and broke off the fork. If I remember right...

I was actually on my way to pick up my leather jacket at the store I had n order. This was November so I had gloves sweatshirt, under armor cold gear and two other long sleeved shirts jeans and boats. I fractured my heel on ine for tore ligaments in my ankle on the other foot. That was fun not being able to walk.
