06 wrx axle back - 15k miles

or

Xlerator with "Sti" tip - Unknown Miles

http://www.goerlichs.com/product_sub_pa ... erator.asp (http://www.goerlichs.com/product_sub_pages/products_PERxlerator.asp)

The price difference is $40...(06 wrx is $40 less)

I would like some boxer note...

What do you guys think?? Any comments opinions welcome. Thanks.[/url]

I think you would be good with the Rex muffler and a mid-pipe creating a cat-back system. You should get a nice tone out of that.

I voted 06 WRX. you can't go wrong with factory made and barely used.

i voted for the 06 rex...btw....the resonator or what the hell it is in the mid pipe is HUGE! i'm guessing you have to go custom mid pipe or hack that off

I think you should ditch the factory stuff. Factory mufflers are heavy & bulky.

Just go down to the local exhaust shop and see what they can do for you.
I got a Magnaflow muffler w/2.25" catback for $175 installed! You can't buy a factory muffler for that! Too boot the muffler was smaller and tucked up nicely , has a great boxer sound we all love.

So far trhe best sounding muffler or exhaust system I've heard is Stromung expensive but very distinct boxer sound.

Good luck with your choice!

You most certainly can buy a lightly used STi muffler for less than 175. Some people have gotten theirs for 75 shipped.

I wouldn't go for either... I was sorely dissapointed with the lack of sound out of my WRX muffler:

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=3837

I'm going to buy a different muffler and simply strap it to the exhaust with clamps, see if I like the sound, and if I do, get it welded up, and if not, then I'll stick with what I have.

I will say having the entire catback section off of the WRX is nice, because it is a 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust. Mandrel bends > crush bends at a muffler shop. But it is definately not a direct fit. So I would figure out if the effort to get that muffler on, will be worth it, since it'd cost just as much to get the next muffler installed.

Having said that, the xclerator on you listed is simply a glass pack. So it'll be quite loud. Also, the WRX and STi mufflers are not the same. STi muffler is 2.5" with a single baffle, and WRX muffler is 2.25" with 2 baffles.

The 05+ WRX muffler is the same as an STi muffler sans the fancy tip.
