After I purchased my 02 LGT I noticed that the brake light which is located right next to the rear windshield does not light up. When I went to the subaru dealership, they had told me that if i have a spoiler, they disconnect it?!? But I've seen other BE's with spoiler with the center brake lighting up...What do you guys think?? Anyone with same problem or is it just me?

If there is a solution to making my brake light light up again I would like to know. I did check to see if the harness is connected and i believe it is connected...If anyone has a diagram, it will be most helpful.

Thanks for your help.

They have to disconnect it so they can plug in the brake light in the spoiler. Thats just how its done (i had to do that when I installed my spoiler).

If you want to, open up the trunk and look for the wires from the brake light and splice it into the same circuit as the spoiler light is on. Of course, in my opinion this is completly useless and looks worse than just having the spoiler brake light.

Why plug it in if you have a spoiler?

On my BD the spoiler is wired in and there is no third brake light, however I have a empty plug on the inside of my trunk under the deck where the light would have plugged in.

Both my spoiler and center brake light work.

exactly. I want to do a center brake light delete, but whoever buys the car might want it.

Both light up on mine. I'd delete the high mount brake light, but it leaves holes in the rear deck carpet FTL.

Thanks everyone for the inputs!

so does anyone with BE have both brake lights working??

I would like to see how it looks on my car before deciding whether to have both or to keep one. Can anyone help me? I prefer not splicing into wires. Thanks again. You guys have been all helpful with your inputs.

they used to make a plastic piece that cover the hole for the WRX. i think it was kinda pricey though, like $50 or $100. i think they should ahve somethign similar for the BE.

but if i were you, i'd just leave it.

Get a stencil cutout and overlay it on the brake light. Wire it up, instant "BACK OFF" sign for tailgaters when you brake check them! :D

When I got my GT both high mounts were functional. I didn't like both on, it makes it look like I installed the spoiler afterwards and half-ass... (although its not as bad as I saw coming into work this morning, some guy added a spoiler to his car and wired the spoiler high mount to his signal light  ) Soooo, I unplugged the one in the rear window  I didn't bother tracing the wiring for the spoiler brake light since I wanted that one working.

By any chance will you be able to take a pic of which harness is for the spoiler and the center brake light? TIA.

I can...

The one for the rear window should be almost right below it. There is a small rectangular white plug that is clipped up to the rear deck. I'll try and get a picture of what I am talking about.

Both the brake lights work in my BE. I would have to agree that it is overkill. When I am stopped at night, I can see the faces of people behind me being blinded by my sweet ass lights!

I would just leave it disconnected IMO

Of Course, I am an ass, so don't listen to me!

hahaha thats funny...

I am trying to see if i can get the behind the windshield brake light to work and disconnect the one on the spoiler. I've looked thoroughly laying inside my trunk...but i have no idea where the harness is located for the spoiler brake light...and im pretty sure i found the one for behind the windshield but that one is not open (meaning something is plugged in already)...?!? Requesting pics if possible! Thanks.

don't disconnect the one on your spoiler, it's the most visible.

This plug that is disconnected in the pics is what makes the high mount in the rear window work (assuming no one removed this to connect your spoiler high mount).

How would i go about replacing the bulb? If its too much of a hassle i wont even bother...i already gave up on making it light up...I just want to know how they work.
