What the hell is an oil catch can used for?

I don't know if thats really worth it, or is it another one of those TURBO air gimmicks? :oops:

im a noob too...i am going to talk out of my arrrse...but what i think it is for...so that all the oil is collected into it at "i dont know when" but yeah so that the excess oil doesnt damage the turbo? i think das wut ive read or heard somewhere...sorry if i misinformed anyone...but im sure if you do some research theres info on this im sure...but i juss wanted to talk out of my arrrse as i mentioned before...haha sorry.

I believe that it is to catch oil and such that is being blown back into the intake at high RPM's on forced induction engines. But that's just going from context from a few things I have read. We should wait till someone that knows answers :razz:

Oil catch can is for turbo applications. It helps reduce oil blowby back into the intake from the intercooler. You'd notice a reduction in the amount of oil in your intercooler if you were to pull it out and look inside. Really only an issue in high boost, large frontmount cases where the oil has time to settle out of the air, but some people like having them. I personally don't think its neccessary.
