How well will this 95-96 Outback grill fit my 97 GT ?

This is coming from a 95-96 Outback. I'm buying his headlight to replace my "goosed" one and he has the grill as well. Its not chrome like my GT but I don't care. I'm sure it will look just fine. THe question is, will it fit properly and bolt/clip right on ?

Couldn't get the link to work. The grill is off the 95-96, is the headlight as well? If so you will be getting a cloudier lense with directional lines in the plastic (97 and up had the very clear plastic with the plastic reflector doing the job of light directioning.

As to the grill, 97's also had a face lift, so your car will most likely have the larger grill, where as a 95 outback will have a smaller grill. The 96 will have a larger grill that will fit your car. Here's some pics.

Notice how the 95's bumper goes straight along the bottom of the headlights and grill? The 96 and up have a dip, so if you install a small grill, you will have a small gap at the bottom.

Yeah, 95-96 "outback grille" is an paradox. The 95 and 96 grilles are different, as the 95 outback got the L bumper.

That's wierd, the grill he shows me (see below) looks just like mine and the one you posted. Do you suppose he just has the year wrong ?

This is the headlight, it looks just like mine and if its cosmeticallly a little different its not biggie.

Headlight really doesn't matter, it's the bumper that matters.

The picture you showed seems to be a 96+ outback bumper, which would fit your GT.

Yep, that is a 96 grill. Its good to go! Do you also have a one piece headlamp? With the turn signal part part of the headlight? The clear lenses have a seperate corner lamp part.

Thats the newer and clearer plastic head lamps. They do look very different, but function the same (more or less) and share common bolt holes and everything.

Yes my '97 has the one piece lights. So its safe to say this grill will fit my '97 ?

As long as you have a GT bumper, yes, they will. Headlights make no difference.
