Subarus & safety?

No, it's not, there's a lot of "I totalled the car but walked away" type threads on Nasioc. Subarus are pretty good in an accident.

Those safety standards come with most, but not all, cars sold nowadays. I've seen people do things to cars that you'd never even dream of, and still walk away. Then again, there are those that get killed doing the same thing. Luck of the draw.

Edit: And that guy very well should've been dead. If I had been on that call, I wouldn't have expected any occupants to be alive. That crash has nothing to do with safety standards. It should've taken his head off.

I wasn't talking about airbags dude, I was talking about a unibody frame with crumple zones that did their job even with a Tractor trailer hitting them and mashing them against another one. Yes, he got lucky.

Had it been in a truck, the body would've folded up like an acordian because trucks don't have crumple zones. You've seen those commercials where they brag about how they have a solid reinforced frame. That's actually worse in a crash where they're not the big guy.

There was an article I found awhile back that showed a cutaway section of the B pilllars in a WRX - they are triple layered, and even the pneumatic saws of an EMS crew couldn't cut through them.

They can bend, but it takes immense pressure.

I am not 100% on this.
