I found a BD for sale just down the street, it is really clean. It looks to be a 97-99 L sedan with about 120k. The person is asking $4000 but I think I can talk them down if I pay cash. I really miss my BD and this is what is making me even think about getting it. All the goodies I wanted when I had my BD weren't available, and if you did find something it was crazy expensive. Everything was out of my budget as a poor college student. Now I am a little better off economically, and all the goodies are now vastly available and fairly cheap compared to a few years ago I want to get another BD.

My question to you guys is, does it make sense to you to have two cars? If so, one will be a full out project at some point, which one? I can pay cash for it, so its not like I would have payments other than insurance. I would probly take the BE off the road for winter should I get it. I have work I want to do to the BE but can't due to the down time that would occur with the work.

I'm just interested in what you guys have to say.

Thanks,
-BB98

Which ride will be the project car?
Work out exactly what you want to achieve, and why, and that will determine your budget.

BD is going to be a better platform for performance due to weight- leave the BE alone, Daily drive it.

I'd rather have a backup car during a swap, which is why I didn't vote for option 4.

If you could find a BD that is in good shape, with a solid feel to the steering and interior (no shakes and rattles, etc....) and thats what you really want then follow that. Maybe take a test drive in the car and see if the car is what you remember it to be. Maybe you will find that you prefer the BE and all this thinking was all for naught. If the car is down the street I am sure it won't be a big deal. Just tell them you used to have one just like it, you miss it, you'd like to see how this one is. You can tell them you have cash waiting just need to see if the decision seems right.

I agree with huffer. Look at what you really want to achieve, which body style you prefer, and consider the age of the car you would be getting compared to what you drive now.

Oh, and snap some pictures!

I'll try and get a few. Its green, alloys, spoiler, etc.

I really like the BD body style over the BE, although the BE has grown on me a lot since I first traded for it.

As far as which would be the project, I have aspirations for both, but would probly use the BD since more things are available for that chasis, and more stuff swaps over from the Impreza platform. But I think the BE would be a world of fun with better suspension, and a 6-speed mated to a 30R  Then again, I could have a BD and throw in a Rex engine for about the same price if not less. Decisions, decisions...

A 30R would NOT be cheap at all.

I think you should sell the BE and give me your tailights

Your BE is already sexy.

Buy the BD, make that one sexy, have two sexy Subaru's.

Case closed.
