Cruise control

Do you have to be going a certain speed to use it? Are there any fuses / relays that relate to it? Thanks.

I thought it was 35 mph on most cars.

25mph is what I narrowed it down to in my BK.

Hit the cruise button on the dash
Be travelling 25mph ish
push up (or down, cant remember) on the stalk on the steering wheel.

Im pretty sure theres a fuse for it, dont know where it is though.

I'm not sure if there is a minimum speed or what it is, but I am sort of disappointed with Subaru's Cruise logic. It waits until you are almost 4MPH below the set speed before it tries and hold the speed, by that point (going uphill) it has to kick to third gear to get back to the set speed. It gets very annoying. If I am manually controling the trottle I can accelerate in diff. lock up most hills without going to 3rd. Unless its a small incline, or I help it (meaning I press the trottle earlier than the Cruise would, then let off) it almost always goes to third.

This may be related to Subaru's poor auto logic as well. Shift patterns on the 4EAT are random at best.

More on topic, I will look and see if I can determine which fuse controls the Cruise.

I think it's the 4EAT, it always locks up instantly when I set it on mine.

Its funny because its true, but my cruise doesn't work so I cant chime in. :mad:

I was refering more to pulling hills with cruise. It waits far too long before depressing the pedal more. So then its like "oh shit!" and mashes it to get back to speed. Doing so makes it kick to third gear. It really has a rough time through hilly terrain. Flat is fine, it never varies...

My Cavalier never budged (unless on a steep decline).

You also had a 3.1L V6 with FWD in a light car, so it didn't really ever have to try ;)

According to the owners manual on my BC the cruise control works at speeds above 25mph. And I belive you push down on the stalk to set the speed or coast, and up to increase acceleration or resume.
