Calsonic Radiator Cap in a junk yard = Good Find?

Well, I was poking around the old junk yard the other day and made my way over to the subaru section. I looked at a couple engines and noticed that one had a radiator cap on it that looked pretty neat because it wasn't the normal yellow sticker like most caps. I took it off and it read calsonic with some writing. Not until today did I find this little post on NAISCO http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=602094. Is this that? I'd never pay $50 for it, but for free its pretty cool.

either way, I doubt it'll hurt anything, and if it looks cool, it's a good find :smile:

Calsonic is a pretty common OEM manufacturer. We associate it with racing because of their full-scale sponsorshiup of a lot of cars, but it's comparable to ACDelco or something here. Just like how NGK makes a ton of OEM spark plug wires, etc.

FWIW, my OB came stock with a .9 Calsonic cap jsut like that one, so as long as it's the same spec as stock, toss it on, but it's not a mad 1337 JDM part or anything....

<----just flat blacked most of the yellow pieces in the engine bay, so I understand wanting to get rid of yellow :p

upgraded rad caps amuse me. Your rad cap purges for a good reason, and its not like you couldnt shim the stock one anyway.

you should be careful wut you stick on that radiator as a cap.

When i bought my car...not my BE...but my previous car, someone had blitz radiator cap thinking it will look cool i guess...and after few months my radiator blew...and i went through 4 brand new radiators...the mechanics did not know the cause of the blown radiator and one of my friends who knew alil about cars...suggested replacing the radiator cap. since some are high pressure...or something...so just letting you know.

I might be wrong on this one so excuse me if im wrong. dont want fellow legacy owner blowing a radiator...cuz it quite a lot of money....

Yeah, Gran Turismo has added a lot of coolness to my car. I found it amusing that the car came with a Unicia Jecs idle controller valve, and Denso spark plugs.
